A few episodes seemed to lose the momentum, but I suppose it makes sense now that they're still going to be exploring these characters/storylines in the second series.
They completely inverted some of the characters; it could still be anyone.

Not the best of Wossy's tonight.
Peter Kay and Stephen Fry were shite. Hugh Jackman was good though.
That disgusting fag Louis Spence is on next week, probably give that a miss tbh.
Not the strongest of starts for the new series tbh, hopefully they're saving the best for later.

It's decent. Gets better towards the end as for some reason the network it was on swapped the episodes immediately after the pilot to near the end of the season.
The gay dude has the funniest lines, I think. The older sister, who was on Scrubs, is really annoying.

There are 11 books in the series that True Blood is based on, so the show could run for a while yet. I just hope it doesn't tail off as badly as Heroes did, such a let down that show, after what was an awesome first series.

Must be the swiftest and biggest downturn in quality since The Invincibles morphed into The Unfuckingbelievables.

Every dinosaur effect still looks shit in comparison to the original Jurassic Park.
I think Spielberg's teams are a step ahead and he's probably a perfectionist when it comes to effects. I know he's a producer on this, but I doubt he was directly involved at all.
Even other mega-budget stuff like King Kong and Avatar look unconvincing a lot of the time.
Marc Overmars

Yeah the dinosaurs in Juarassic Park were excellent. That was what, 93-94?
The effects in Terra Nova just look like they've been plucked from a video game. You'd think they would have put more effort into it considering the size of the budget and the technology available today.
Master Splinter

1993.
Even though the budgets for TV series are huge these days, they still pale in comparison to the big blockbusters. And they have to spread it over 13-24 episodes. You often see them blow it all on the pilot and then they have nothing left to offer for the remainder of the series.

Yep. Last week we were at S2 Ep 2 - Nucky gets out of jail, meets the Shinners and Margaret scams her way into his office when it is being searched. Jimmy is up in NY, and Chalkie gets moved into a cell with some badass, but Chalkie has him sorted out pretty good.
Fricken wonderful show, and you, Lahey have great taste in TV.

CHeers GB. Its easily the best show on tv right now. The second episode of the season was so full! How they can squeeze that much into an hour and make it seem un-rushed is amazing. The look of Boardwalk Empire, the fashions, cars, the lighting on sets, it is all just terrific IMO. Steve Buscemi is perfect in this role: a political weasel you end up liking, a lot.
You can see that this season will be about how Nucky climbs back up to the top. There are going to be a lot of dead people piled up by the end of it I think.
Looks like the UK is a show behind tho. I just watched the 3rd episode last Sunday.

Seems like we're 6 days back - which isn't too bad - I reckon I now have a day where I can actively participate in the Calgary Flames forum thread on it. I've been avoiding that so far for obvious reasons.
I take it that you have HBO Canada? I cannot believe the quality HBO regularly produces and the amount of people that ignore it because it is
American shit.
Totally agree with everything you have posted - Nucky knows just about everyone's moves before they do. And that speech to the Blacks and the Klan - an awesome piece of television delivered by an actor that could not be bettered in that role.
Buscemi has got to be one of the most versatile and accomplished actors of his generation.

Yes i have HBO and i dont watch too many other tv shows other than the ones on there. CUrb Your Enthusiasm, Boardwalk Empire, Bored to Death, Call Me Fitz, Eastbound and Down (Kenny Fucking POwers!) etc...People are crazy if they think any of these shows are shit.

It's because he's made a name for himself across the pond now.
Never liked him tbh, although I did enjoy An Idiot Abroad but that's more to do with Karl Pilkington.
I don't think 'one trick pony' is a criticism you can label at something that undoubtedly works - for non-fat, non-twatish screen writers this would just be called 'their style'.
He's probably a bit of a fat twat but I quite like his stuff. That 'awkward' approach was quite new at the time The Office was made. Peter Crouch is just as much (if not more) the brains behind it though but it's a shame his career hasn't taken off.

There's a lot of one-trick and repetitive crap on the market. Nothing that it is new as a lot of programs start with a new idea but then stick with it and flog it to death. 'allo 'allo was like that - at the start it was a new idea and funny at first. 2,000,000 episodes in and you get the French resistance lady walking in, saying "Listen carefully - I will say this only once" and for some reason the studio audience fall about as if they have never heard it before.
Same as catchphrases and the like. So called comedians who rely on that shit like 'Nice to see you, to see you nice' should be taken out and shot in front of their families.
Little Britain is another example of just not funny - same sketch every week when it was on.
