Probably the same team, unless Vermaelen is dead. A week off, so everyone should be fresh.

It's up for the Chelsea players to make David Silva miss this. I'd suggest Ramires is the most likely candidate for that.
Niall_Quinn

I think Chelski will take them. City are just a bunch of mercenaries, when the going gets tough they'll fold and wait for the easier pay-day.

I think, going into these "early" games with Manchester City, we need to put in a performance and show that we're not scared of them. Compare this to Mourinho's Chelsea. After his first season, we just used to cower in fear against them. Not good.
We're touted as the best footballing team in the league (although Sp*rs and ManUre would argue against that) so it's in games against the methodical and overwhelmingly tedious Manchester City that we have to prove it.
It'll be interesting, but with the exception of the Chelsea game, all our results this season have gone somewhat as expected ahead of the match. Hence, 3-1 to Manchester City :(

I don't think we've got anything to lose, despite the fact we're in good form they are going into this game as favourites, not clear...but definitely favourites.
I think if we come away with a point it would be a very good result. I personally think that's the best we can hope for.

It doesn't happen often, but I think this is one game we will need to adapt to not having the possession we want. City are bound to control the game but I think the pace of Theo and Gervinho is the way to exploit that, if they're on top of their game and find space.
Maybe having 4 CB's in the defence could be a small blessing as well. Vermaelen and Djourou won't be as inclined to bomb forward, meaning our back 4 will probably be fairly rigid. Which is a good way to stop someone like Silva who thrives on passing into space and finding little pockets. We need to defend like true GHELs here.

I thought Kolarov is injured?
EDIT: Kolarov won't feature on Sunday:
Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov has been ruled out for four weeks with a groin problem.
The Serbia international will miss December's crucial Barclays Premier League clashes at Chelsea and at home to Arsenal, plus the fixtures against Stoke and West Brom either side of Christmas.

Kolarov can take a good set piece though.
Is Richards still out?
Attacking their full backs sounds like a plan tbh. So does beating them on the pitch as well.
Master Splinter
13-12-2011, 10:38 AM
Oh yeah, Kolarov's out for a month or so.
They'll move Zabaleta to the left. Zabaleta is better defensively than Clichy or Kolarov so that's a shame.
Richards will probably be back. I don't think his injury was serious. Maybe Agent Kolo or Savic if he's still out?
Full-back crisis seems to be spreading.

Zabaleta will do. And Richards? That'd be ideal.
Considering we actually have a defence these days and will be playing 4 CBs, I think we need to park the bus and launch to Van Persie to get the knock-down for Theo to square for Gervinho to bobble his shot to the path of Van Persie to slide in and score.
Just need to boot everything clear from our own half for the first 60 minutes or so and then take over. Do-able.

Why? Our kids took them to school last time we played and city had to fluke a win after getting a hiding. Don't see why we can't go out and do the same job on them. Just hit them with pace and make the fuckers play at more than 3mph and we have as good a chance as any. They're boring over-rated cunts who aren't in the same league as some of the decent Arsenal and Utd squads we've seen over recent years, so let's just go and remind the uppity gypos of that rather than conceding defeat before a ball is kicked.

Christmas letters to Santa asking for a new bike or toy are usually endearing notes penned by wide-eyed innocent children.
But Mekeeda Austin has warned Father Christmas that he will be ‘killed’ if he fails to deliver at least two of her long list of gifts – including a BlackBerry smartphone and ‘the real-life Justin Bieber’.
The 13-year-old goes even further and threatens to ‘hunt down’ Old Nick’s reindeer so she can ‘cook them and serve their meat to homeless people on Xmas day’.
Her mother, Tracey, from Brickhill, Bedford, found the note – which ends ‘Remember… two of these, or you die’ – in Mekeeda’s school bag but has vowed to try to meet her daughter’s demands rather than punish her.
‘When I first found the letter, I thought it was funny. Now I think I’d better get her what she wants. The last thing I want is for her to kill Santa,’ said Mrs Austin, 40.
And the demanding Mekeeda added: ‘I don’t really believe in Santa any more but I was angry because I thought I wasn’t going to get all the presents I wanted this year.
‘I want all of these things and I don’t see why I shouldn’t get them.’

City were terrific for the first 25 minutes against Chelsea and their passing and movement was great.
They just didn't get enough chances for the amount of possession they had, but they're at home and it's the biggest test Arsenal have had for a while.
The Gunners have been playing very well and we know how good Robin van Persie is.
Last season, the Gunners went there and won comfortably 3-0 after Dedryck Boyata got sent off early on.
I fancy City for this one though, because their Champions League exit and their defeat by Chelsea will mean they are eager to get back on track.
And if they do win, the players will be thinking they really can go on and take the Premier League title.
Prediction: 2-0
Dont disagree with that

We have no game changers on the bench, which I why I think Oxlade should have been included if we needed to change things. Chamakh, Frimpong, Benayoun etc are not players who'll add a spark to our play and help us turn the game around if required. We've seen Oxlade's ability in running with the ball, and that could have been really useful on the counter-attack today.

Time for Arshavin in the 2nd half?
Haul off Gervinho whos had a bit of a shocker...again
RVPs worked hard but need him in the box more.
Ramsey fucked up a great chance. Arteta very Denilsonesque. Song is a red waiting to happen. Good game though from him.
Working very hard and competing very well in the game. Up against a better opponent away from home so it's going to be very difficult to get a draw but the key is not letting them dictate the tempo of the game. They want to make it an end-to-end game. We should try to slow it down with our attacks and not lose our shape.
Song and Kos need to be very careful now. Any contact and Aguero etc. are going down in a flash.
