Interesting to read all this stuff about the Costa Concordia.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16606405
etc
What interested me is how different the accounts are from what happened during the Titanic disaster 100 years ago.
Compare and contrast.
Captain Smith going down with the ship (as opposed to this bloke who got the hell out of there and refused to go back when ordered to by the coastguard), the women and children first policy (as opposed to the every man for him or herself scramble).
The band playing on, the stiff upper lip, etc.
Does this show a change in society? Or is it a change in the way things were reported as there are stories emerging of heroism from the recent accident and there were certainly stories of cowardice from the Titanic.
Discuss.
Or don't. Whatever <_<
