A semi-retired celebrity like Beckham can still pass better than most English players.
He should have gone.
Well he's been practically retired for 5 years, sunning himself in LA instead of playing proper football.
Right decision not to pick him.

Purely football reasons
Beckham has been in great form for LA Galaxy
Pearce is a mong of a manager

I don't really care on this one, he isn't someone that was going to massively benefit the team. He's good for a Hollywood cross but I've had enough of that.
Funnily enough most of the uproar has been that he isn't being picked for non-football reasons ie his part in bringing the Olympics to London.

By that token, they'd also have to play Ken Livingstone on the left.

It's pretty obviously Pearce trying to prove his credentials as a facking footbaw managa and the next England boss by taking a 'brave' call, but Dave Beckham is pretty obviously a bit shit so the outrage at a player who is a bit shit being left out is quite funny.

Shocking decision.
I have tickets to one of the semis and any glimmer of interest I had in the Olympic soccer has now gone.
What moron made Pearce the manager anyway. Becks should have been made player/manager.

Team GB wouldn't have made the semi anyway.
