Non-league Bashley Town have written to the Football Association requesting their FA Cup first-round qualifying match against Gosport Borough is replayed after a clear goal was missed by referee Ian Bull.
With the teams level at 2-2, Bashley 'scored' late on after James Stokoe struck from close range, but in frustration the Gosport keeper kicked the ball through the side netting.
And, having missed the ball going in, referee Bull then awarded a corner.
"We feel cheated," Bashley vice-chairman Tim Titheridge told BBC Sport.
The incident was also missed by the assistant referee and Bashley went on to lose 3-2 after extra time. It is a mistake Titheridge believes has cost them up to Ł10,000.
"We don't blame the referee for not seeing it, but we do blame the Gosport players for not owning up," he said.
Bashley have now written to the FA's competitions department requesting a replay of their replay.
"We have also written to Gosport asking them to write to the FA, but we do not expect anything to happen," he added.
Bull was being assessed during the game and was told of his error after the final whistle.
"He was horrified when the assessor told him he got it wrong," said Titheridge.
Titheridge added the assistant referee had been told of a hole in the side netting at half time but did nothing about it.
He added: "A number of Gosport players, management staff, supporters and officials admitted that a goal should have been given, expressed sympathy and some even apologised to members of our club."
Gosport manager Alex Pike told the Daily Echo: (http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/9925579.Bashley_FA_Cup_fury_over__goal_that_never_ was_/) "I spoke to my players afterwards, of the 11 on the pitch, two thought it wasn't a goal, two didn't see anything and seven said it was a goal.
"The biggest clue for the referee was that all 11 Bashley players were celebrating a winning goal and only two of mine said the ball hadn't gone in. I have got a lot of sympathy for Bashley and thought they took it exceedingly well. I wouldn't have taken it as well as they did.
"If the boot had been on the other foot, I would have seriously considered whether I wanted to stay in football. It was a good reason to give up."

just because newcastle lost 8 games, doesnt make it a shit result for us to have won. united struggled to beat them at home ffs, it doenst make them shit. you are just so blinkered in your hatred for arsenal, you see everything in football means somehow you can have a go at arsenal for it.

It puts the result in perspective, they can buy a win at the moment and are totally out of form, a decent result for us but it explains why we found it as easy as we did, even Brighton knocked two past them.
They are an awful side this season, the injuries aren't helping them but it's a fact they've been awful. You don't lose 7 out of 8 games if you're a good side.

Lovely goal for the holders. Juan Mata runs through the defence and gets his shot away, but debutant Demba Ba slides in on the line to apply a touch. Was the ball over the line already? It's been given to Ba and he is up and running in a Chelsea shirt..

He really is, the price of a player always has to be put into context with what they give you and RVP makes Man U a much better team and scores a hatful of goals.

his premier league peers are henry and ronaldo. no other forward has any business being mentioned in the same breath.

Bergkamp was technically superior, some of his passing was sublime, and RVP can't do that. I remember some outstanding assists for Ljungberg at the tail end of the 01-02 season which helped us wrap up the league. Overall the better player IMO.
The biggest issue for me was not using the RVP money to buy a really top quality striker. Giroud is decent, but you can't replace very good players with simply good ones, that's regression.
You obviously never saw him play.
yeah, that is
bergkamp was unplayable for about a year. early 98 till he bottled the penalty in 99. and even then he wasnt a problem the way RVP is a problem. defenders? they have a big problem.
