View Full Version : Bros, I need some guidance.
The fuss about Homeland.
Is it warranted?
Should I watch it?

Dunno, can't help you.
Watch The Killing (US Version) if you haven't already.

Only watched most of the first episode and didn't like it.
People rave about it though.
Mind you, they also raved about The Hangover.
Yes
and
Yes
probably, it is rather good tv, though you'd best start from the beginning.
So that's 2 don't knows, 1 no good and 1 good.
Close shave but will probably check it out. I'll start from scratch.
The Killing looks interesting also.
Watching it at the moment, currently a four episodes into the first season.
Think there's quite a bit of plot setting (I hope) thus far....but it's starting to hot up.

A colleague goes on about it, supposed to be pretty good. Not seen it myself, don't think I have the time to get into it now.

As a great botoxed WUM once said in this thread: http://www.goonersweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=837&page=14&p=205595&viewfull=1#post205595
I must say, it is an exceptional choice.
Will you be disappointed?
We will know in 2-3 weeks.
The global impression of course is very high.
You must observe the waiting period, but the little burst will occur quite early and the handbrake will be completely off for the rest of the season.
What do I think of Damien Lewis playing an American?
We do not look at the passport of the actors.

Seriously though, it's very good.
Season two doesn't have the quite the impact of the first, but that's to be expected and you see different sides to most characters. A few episodes are just as powerful and I'm sure it will go out on another top, top, top quality cliffhanger.
You don't like Ba and Cisse's goal celebrations, so you might despise Brody though.
I am not racist to a cliffhanger.
So overall, in the first 4 or so episodes you need to let them settle in with the details and then you will be rewarded. Little bit second season syndrome follows but the glimpses of magic are still there.
Lets give it a go then.
And Mrs Brody is pure filth of course, which helps a bit.

It's actually pretty hard-hitting and fast-paced from the beginning.
Was the waiting period bit invented so I could stay faithful to my long-winded joke?
I don't know about this.
There's not really much physical drop in the second season either. It's just less bombastic and slightly more emotional. Top, top, top, top quality versus top, top, top quality. Buffon versus Casillas. Borg versus McEnroe. Neighbours versus Home & Away.
You need to be watching Breaking Bad, to be fair you dick.

I've only seen the first season, watched all 12 back to back. I'll watch season 2 when its finished on C4.
It was quite good tbf.
Though as soon as it was revealed that he was a muzzy (in episode 2 I think) it was obvious that he was a terrorist
Up to (and seen) season 2 episode 8 now.
I must tell you, MS is a filthy liar. Season 2 has exceptional quality.
A must watch for the 1% that haven't seen it. It'll change your life.

I liked Homeland. Worth watching.
Breaking Bad is the best show on tv however. Shame its on its last season.
Homeland is pretty boss but Carrie is infuriatingly stupid.
