Football legend Pat Rice, who dedicated 44 years to Arsenal, is in hospital with cancer. The married dad, 64, served the Gunners as a player, youth coach and assistant manager before he retired in May last year.
A source close to the star said: “I’m aware he has been in and out of hospital receiving treatment.”
An Arsenal spokesman added: “Our thoughts are with Pat and his family. Everyone at Arsenal sends him our best wishes.”

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere.

We don't know the specifics but prostate is one of the more treatable ones. Lets hope all goes smoothly.

Sad news. Until his retirement, he was at this Club my entire life. A true Gooner legend. Hope he pulls through.

Such a sad day.. Hope he beats it. I remember seeing him in the game vs villa at half time. An arsenal man through and through!

A living legend, who has devoted many years of his life to the Arsenal. Hoping that he beats this, and enjoys his retirement with his loved ones.

Was part of the team that showed me the light and become a Gooner.

True legend and a major influence on Wenger, hope he beats this.

such sad news this. I hope he makes a full recovery and quickly.

As someone said on twitter, how wonderful would it be, if in May, Arsene lifts the premiership trophy up in the direction of a smiling Pat Rice who has been given the all clear.

If it is prostate there is a chance of the "wrong one", one you can't recover from. If Patsy is being treated in hospital for it, it doesn't sound good. If he's going to hospital, I really hope it's just precautionary. Best luck Patsy son. You've been an icon for me all my life...
