And for all their efforts to hobble Vettel it looks like he's competitive from the outset this year, which means by the halfway stage he'll be so superior their season finale sabotage plan will be redundant. Nobody except Vettel wants Vettel to win every race and every title, but don't ruin the whole sport trying to stop him.

Also, who is that Kvyat (or whatever) guy? He's a horrible accident waiting to happen. First four are likely to lap the 5th place guy tomorrow such is the huge discrepancy between the cars. FIA will need to come up with even crazier rule changes if they want to ruin the sport completely - right now only 90% of the job is done. If they seriously believe 2-3 second per lap gaps at the top end of the grid makes for more competition why don't they just keep the top 4 cars and chuck the rest? Put them in slots on the road and use remote controls, get rid of the drivers. You could have bridges and crossovers and lights on the cars that really work (batteries not included) so you could experience all the thrills and spills of Formula 1. It would be almost like the real thing.

I was thinking all about cars and technology during the race. What the fuck are we going to do when petrol driven cars are a thing of the past? That's the way it's going. No more screaming engines, flames shooting out of the exhausts, oil, fumes or any of the things that make motor sport what it is and has always been. Just emotionless, silent, stupid fucking toy cars with batteries. But if we took the simple step of killing everyone connected with the green movement the world could be saved, but we won't even do that one simple thing.

Have you ever been to the Goodwood Festival of Speed? Watching old F1, group B rally cars, endurance racers from the 80s climb the hill as they split your ear drums. Classic works of art, we'll never see the like again.

Never been, but I'm going to start looking beyond F1 now that it has been ruined. Used to love rallying when I was a kid, think I'll get back into that too.

I miss Le Mans already, miss the extra window on the desktop below the footie. Says something when the footie was muted all day yesterday in favour of the race. Not sure I actually like football and F1 all that much any more, might just be a bad habit.
