Stoke are pretty limited, but still have a decent home record. Whatever team we put out, we should really be beating them though because they shouldn't threaten us too much. A week's rest and maybe Ozil, Vermaelen and Gibbs back. We could have a defensive CRISIS if Monreal and Koscielny are still out and no-one returns though. Hope we start with high energy like yesterday rather than let them into the game and turn it into a slog.
Szczesny
Sagna
Mertesacker
Koscielny/Vermaelen
Gibbs/Monreal
Arteta
Wilshere
Rosicky/Cazorla
Oxlade
Giroud
Podolski
Prediction: 1-3 (Crouchinho, Podolski, Giroud, Mertesacker).
Come on Arsenal :scarf:.

They also don't seem to realise that the longest serving manager in the League will likely have accumulated the most red cards by virtue of being there 14 years more than the next longest serving. But then they're not the only ones who are cretinous enough to point out such a nebulous fact.

Now Wenger's bitten the bullet he should allow Ozil a proper period to recharge rather than just making a gesture.

I'm not surprised they can't let phis go, tbf - the only reason anyone evdn takes any notice of Stoke City any moRe is because of their two "grudge-matches" a year against us (and even then, I'm not su2e anyone really gives much of a shit about the came at our place, which is pretty much a formality these days)? I guess they think if they should loud enough and long enough, people might remember they're still there...
When they had P5lis they were a0threat, now they have Hughes thgy're a walkover.

Hughes can turn any game into a shitfest just as easily as Pulis. Most of our results here have been draws so it's not really a place we thrive at. We can't afford many more slip ups and those freaks would love it if they derailed our challenge.

To draw with a team , beat a team or get beaten doesn't not depend on their result against other teams . Football is not mathematics to draw simple comparisons . Results depend on performances , attitudes , mindset , commitment and strategy adopted on the day .
Example :
We scored 5 goals against Cardiff ( in two games ) ( 3-0 & 2-0)
Cardiff beat Manchester City 3-2
City smashed Arsenal 6-3 .
Stoke beating Man U and Chelsea or drawing with City will not influence the outcome of the game against Arsenal even though some will state that it will give them confidence . It just doesn't work like that .

Fine, but they've only lost 2 league games at home this season. And they've had good results about other top sides.
Those facts are not irrelevant. Yes, every game is an individual occasion but form isn't irrelevant to it.

They lost to Liverpool and Norwich, right?
Letters
24-02-2014, 12:40 PM
Think so.
Obviously you can't just cherry pick results and draw a conclusion but if there is a pattern of good results and a good overall home record then I don't think that can be dismissed as irrelevant.
Stoke's results in 2014:
Man City 1-0 Stoke
Stoke 1-1 Swansea
Southampton 2-2 Stoke
Stoke 2-1 Man Utd
Sunderland 1-0 Stoke
Chelsea 1-0 Stoke
Crystal Palace 1-0 Stoke
Stoke 3-5 Liverpool
Stoke 2-1 Leicester
Stoke 1-1 Everton
That's 2 wins, 3 draws and 5 defeats in 10 games, granted 2 wins and 2 draws came at home (though 1 win was against Leicester and the other against Man U), not exactly sh*t hot form, we should beat them IMO.

Id go with Ches, Sagna, Kos, Mert, Gibbs (verm), Flam, Wilshere, Ox, Podolski, Giroud, Carzorla.
Good balance to that team flamini to protect the defence and jack to provide the link between defence and attack. Their defence is not the paciest so Ox will give them something to think about.
Ozil, Arteta, Rosciky, Gnarby, on the bench and can provide something different if needed.
We should have enough quality but this is their cup final and will be up for it more so than against any other team. It really depends on the arsenal that turn up but we should be fresh and if we play well we will win.

In Fifa's Laws of the Game 2005, Law 12 says a free-kick or penalty will be awarded if a player "handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)".
Page 67 of the document gives "additional information for referees, assistant referees and fourth officials".
It adds: "Referees are reminded that deliberately handling the ball is normally punished only by a direct free-kick or penalty kick if the offence occurred inside the penalty area.
"A caution or dismissal is not normally required."

Fair enough, but from what I've seen penalties are always given for handball in the box unless the back is kicked at someone from close range and can't be avoided.

I think we all knew that unless we strengthened in January, we had no hope of keeping the pace.
What's worrying, is that the players probably know that too.

We played straight into the hands of stoke we made it pretty comfortable for them. There was no urgency from us and it was all very casual and sloppy. Surely Arsene knew that stoke would be up for this and told his team to play accordingly but nope.
stoke will probably lose their next game 3-0 now after playing what was just their biggest game of the season.
