In these instances, why take Podolski off instead off Giroud. With Giroud we are effectively down to 9 men. At least Podolski can take a chance when presented to him.

Two immediate things.
We need a threat up front - the top teams know they can risk everyone forward against us, because we haven't got the tools to punish them when they fuck it up.
Secondly, we need steel in the midfield - they have been cut through like they aren't there - which of course, they aren't.

Bring in a new coach, new ideas, not afraid to spend, someone tactical yet a passing purist.
If people sit back and genuinely reflect, they will see that Wenger is a coach who can do okay and thats down to his genius, however the modern game has moved on and now genius is not enough, you need to prepare to the last letter and set up your team in the right way each game.....all the best managers do it and its no coincidence that we lose so many big games now and have done for a while as Wenger just wont embrace this side of the game.

we also didn't push ridiculously high up the pitch against bayern, had we set up against chelsea the way we did against bayern, we wouldn't be 4-0 down now.
Wenger is not stupid, but he's too stubborn for his own good....i believe he bought into the hype over his 1,000 game and felt he could attack from the off and have a cracker of a game. But the sides in and around us are more ruthless and cynical and will just pick us off. Again i don't think this is a personnel issue, it's a managerial one....and i am not going to say Wenger out because that's knee jerk but he needs to start listening to Steve Bould more.

The way forward is to get with the big boys and spend money. That's what football is now. The chavs can have an old bloke up front on £200K a week, from time to time he shows the talent of old. They can have a £50mill bench decoration. We spent years consolidating the finances so £50mill players, £200Kpw contracts, this is what has to be next if we want to finish that Bif chance and change big games. It's about narrow, narrow, £50mill margins. Pay peanuts you get the even willing but out of his depth Bif who just won't do it for you at that critical moment.

The lack of any threat up front is perhaps WUMger's biggest crime in his time here. We were always top heavy. Now we have no-one. It's insane.
I'm not sure it's steel we need in midfield, but brains and composure.
And we seem to save all our mistakes for the big games. Not just singular mistakes, but colossal repeated ones compounded by even bigger ones in retarded succession.

There are more mistakes in the bigger games because of the lack of a threat up front. The big boys with the guns can go for it safe in the knowledge that they will punish our mistakes with little ridk to themselves when they get it wrong.

Liverpool has spent an absolute fortune to assemble that squad. And blown a fortune in trial and error to get there. If Bif score that chance today do you think we're looking at the same score? The point is, in the big games, Bif HAS to score that goal. There is no close or maybe or unlucky, the big players have to score at those moments. That's why they get the money. Having a second tier striker can turn narrow margins into a chasm. I said at the start this is down to Giroud, can he step up and make us competitive? Answer - no. So in the summer, £40-50mill on the right striker is a must. To be fair we tried to do that last summer but the same Liverpool you mention wouldn't honour the player contract.

Further to that - going into the season with the lack of bite up front was pretty much unforgivable - but to have done nothing, not even apply a bandage in the January window is nothing short of negligence.
big time negligence, so do we trust the same manager to resolve this as a matter of urgency? ...and what about the basic non-monetary issues like lack of planning, adequate tactics, motivation and on-pitch application, will wenger improve in these areas??

It's deliberate handball to stop a goal that's red as far as I remember. Otherwise sticking your hand out on the edge of the box would be red.
Not sure about that NQ. I seem to remember scholes getting sent off for punching the ball into the net a few seasons back. But maybe he already had a yellow for his 5th scissor tackle of the match, as per usual.

That's his biggest weakness - faith in his players. Even the one's he's closest to fuck off when it suits them. Wenger doesn't understand that people will take everything you give them but always make choices that are in their best interests. Fergie was the opposite, he didn't care if a boot he threw hit Beckham in the face. Diaby is another instance, that guy should have been gone years ago. Wenger is too loyal, it hurts him, it hurts us.
Even so, we had Gnabry on the bench. why not bring him on and say no pressure, game is lost, just see what you can do.

We need not just the big money players but players with character. As in NOT Balotelli, NOT Ibrahimovic or any of those types. The big players with character help the manager by standing up on the pitch and taking control when all the manager can do is shout from the side. We have lacked leaders like that.

Well for about 3 years or so, I saw no hope and have been calling for him to go.
Since the Bayern game last year, there has at least been the re-emergence of hope for me, and there are players in this team I can get behind. Despite these abherrations, there is overall progress with the prospect of a Cup.
He needs to get a top quality striker in as an immediate priority - I cannot fathom how he can't do this, if indeed he is the guy making the decision in the Summer. I don't think it is certain that he'll be the guy in charge.

Watching this game in a Pub in West London full off Chelsea scum fans. I fel humiilialted, ashamed, angry and just so bitter and twisted towards Wenger and the players. We have become the whipping boys of the top 3 clubs. We couldnt even get a result against one of the weakest Man Utd sides in years, where other teams went to OT and too them to task. I lost faith with Wenger 5 years ago as I never could buy in in to his ideas. We are Arsenal FC not the Bank of England and if number crunching was his main concern, then he should have taken the post as Commercial Director and not as Club Manager. I hear people saying I would settle for an FA Cup and top 4? So we pay Wenger £7 mill per year to win the FA Cup and 4th place seriously? There are 10 other managers who could match that remit on a 1/3 of Wengers salary. I swear if he signs a new contract thats it for me with Arsenal. It's been a labour of love supporting them recenetly but a another 5 years with this clueless idiot will be a sucker punch to all Arsenal fans.
A time you were drinking a lot of turps?
Its funny, but today it actually seems even worse than it did at the time - and that's rare for me. Lets get this right. It Was Wengers 1000'th game; against not only our (supposed) title rivals; but an ememy team whose cunt of a manager had called him a specialist in failure. This was Wenger's pride on the line, as well as us fans who have defended most of what we have had to take for years. And a more craven; inept; clueless and embarassing player response I have rarely ever seen from a Wenger side (and there have been many humiliations before this).
If there could be a surer sign that Wenger - for all his best efforts - has taken us as far as he possibly can. Its this result.

Strange - it doesn't even seem that long ago...
A time you were drinking a lot of turps?
You might not believe it - but going to watch Arsenal used to involve excitement, confidence and football bragging rights.
No, really?
We'll get back out of the ryman league some day.
