Unfortunately it sounds like innocents were killed and all the politicians escaped. A tragedy in both respects. Harper definitely survived but the devil looks after his own.

Two soldiers killed in two separate attacks this week. Nothing like this has happened in Canada during my lifetime. You kind of thought the country was immune to this shit.

Hopefully this does not result in an over-reaction in respect of security measures. Part of what makes Canada such a great place to live and visit is the liberal approach to life and security.

Short term, not much. But I have some hope that longer term, cooler heads will prevail.

I can see what you mean, in the UK it's hard to deny there's been an over reaction to extremism. This has included Christians who believe the bible being labelled the same as Isil and subject to targeting, see the way the Trojan horse scandal is being used to target schools with a Christian ethos.
