Alexis Sanchez is renowned for his work rate and passion for the game. This story found via Reddit exemplifies that.
“So a family member of mine works for the club (I would rather not answer questions on who he is as I like the anonymity and his position isn’t that interesting) – anyway, just had lunch with him and he told me that Alexis has a small tightness / niggle, very minor but has been told to rest his leg.
“Alexis was found (caught) by staff halfway up a climbing wall with a body pack of weights attached. When told to get down he continued stating that he had to get to the top. Afterwards he told the medical staff that while at Barca he was told he would be out for 12 weeks, he came back in 2. His current “injury” is nothing. Apparently he just can’t stop working out / training.

If he keeps up with this attitude and stays with us for a while, there is no doubt in my mind that he will become a legend. His talent already puts him alongside previous greats and with his attitude, he can reach where TH14 is.

Jack Wilshere is facing a reprimand from Arsene Wenger and will again be reminding of his responsibilities after being photographed with a shisha pipe in a nightclub.
The Arsenal and England midfielder has twice previously been pictured smoking and there is considerable exasperation inside Arsenal at another similar incident, especially as the 23-year-old is in the final stages of recovery from ankle surgery.
It is possible that Wilshere will face a club fine, although Wenger will give his player the chance to fully explain his side of the incident. Wilshere has been photographed with three young women and a shisha pipe on an image that was published on Instagram and then removed before being subsequently reposted on Twitter on Wednesday night. It is understood that the picture was taken at the Sports Bar and Grill in Piccadilly.

A bit late but if you haven't already heard the club are heavily subsiding the tickets for the FA cup game against Utd (£20) and also arranging an extra train service to get fans home.
Nice gesture by the club and whilst it won't alleviate all the disconnect there's been between the higher ups and the fans at the club, it's clearly a step in the right direction.
You've got to give such kudos to the away fans. Always there, wind, rain or sunshine and always singing no matter what. Best away fans in the league.

Yes, a bit of saliva is much worse than having your leg broken, nose broken by en elbow, head injury or even a career threatning injury.

Spitting is vile and if someone spat at me I'm pretty sure my fists would have something to say in return, however on a football pitch I think I'd rather be nursing some damaged pride than a broken leg.

Arsenal will join Everton, Stoke City and a Singapore Select XI team for the Barclays Asia Trophy Singapore in July 2015.
The pre-season tournament will take place at the newly built 55,000-capacity National Stadium at the Singapore Sports Hub.
It will be the first time Arsenal have participated in the tournament, and the Gunners’ first visit to Singapore since 1991.
The knockout competition will take place over two matchdays on Wednesday, July 15 and Saturday, July 18, with a final to determine the winner and a play-off to decide third place. There will be two matches on each day.
The Barclays Asia Trophy has been held biennially since 2003. This year will be the first time that Singapore - celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015 - has played host to the tournament.
Great so our whole squad will be injured before the season even starts!

Podolski set for Arsenal return as Inter prepare to ditch German flop
By talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) | Friday, March 13, 2015
The German forward has failed to impress since heading to the San Siro in January, and was voted second worst signing of the season in Serie A in a poll conducted by Gazzetta dello Sport.
And Matthaus, who played for Inter himself, says the club has decided to send Podolski back to London when his loan expires.
"Inter are not totally satisfied with Lukas' performances," Matthaus told Bild.
"I'd have hoped he'd do better. At the end of the season I think he'll have to pack up and leave Inter, unless something changes dramatically."

Podolski is not a bad player. That small synopsis does not show the actual time spent on the pitch. He needs proper management. In the right team, with the right manager. He can get you 20 goals a season easy. He does`nt miss the sitters that all our other strikers do. If he had hit that Welbeck shot that hit the player, the chap would require medical attention. More to the point it would have flown in the top of the net. He is exactly the type of player we needed in the last 20 mins yesterday. We should have taken off Welbeck and put him on. Unfortunately he dosent play Wengerball. so no hope for him here.

If you cannot see that he is not fit to be a striker at a top flight club then I dont know what to say to you. Inferior to strikers like Ricky Lambert and Danny Ings, so-called "good finishing" is only 10% of what makes a forward.

...oh I'm sure you'd summon the words....
That is an ironic thing to be saying about a German international who has played for Inter, Bayern and Arsenal. He never forged a career as the main man at any of those clubs but nobody has suggested he should be playing 60 games a season for Arsenal or Inter.
My suggestion was simply that when desperately chasing a game running away from you in which scoring is paramount, you kind of want a player to be there to put a boot through the ball and into the net.....and you don't want him to need several tries of doing that to get it in. Podolski is quite capable of doing that.....something you probably know to be true which is why you made the point that "good finishing" is only 10% of what makes a forward.
He's a good player and was played in his best position, he just doesn't have enough to his game to warrant his place in the squad.

Mesut Ozil faces questions after going to Berlin nightclub hours after missing Arsenal match through illness
Arsenal are to seek clarification from Mesut Ozil after he was reportedly seen socialising in a Berlin nightclub just hours after missing Arsenal's 2-1 win against Newcastle United on Saturday. Ozil’s omission on Saturday was explained as him being “under the weather” but German newspaper Bild said that he was later seen at The Pearl nightclub for an anniversary event.
Arsenal had given Ozil permission to travel back to Germany on Saturday and, even if he had been involved in the Newcastle match, he was likely to have left for Berlin immediately after the game. Ozil is now with the Germany squad ahead of a friendly match against Australia on Wednesday night.
Arsenal do want to speak with Ozil to understand what happened on Saturday but, given that his cold was never regarded as severe, are relatively relaxed about the situation. At this stage, there is no suggestion that there would be any disciplinary action although Ozil is likely to be reminded of his responsibilities and the perception that the story could create.
Ozil is now recovered from his illness and is expected to be available for Germany both tomorrow night and for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Georgia on Sunday. Manager Arsene Wenger has had to deal with two other off-field incidents already this year.
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was fined after being caught lighting a cigarette in the dressing room following the New Year's Day loss at Southampton.
Midfielder Jack Wilshere also apologised after he was photographed holding a shisha pipe during a night out to watch the Superbowl while he recovered from injury.
There is no suggestion that the Bild story will impact on Ozil’s place in Arsenal’s match against Liverpool after the international break. Both Arsenal and Ozil have been on good form since he returned from the knee injury he suffered earlier in the season against Chelsea.
Another Arsenal player on international duty this week is Gabriel, who could make his debut for Brazil at The Emirates Stadium against Chile on Sunday. Gabriel was called up to the squad following injuries to both David Luiz and Marquinhos.
"It is a dream," said Gabriel. "It is a valuable opportunity and I hope that is the first call of many. It will be an incentive for me to continue working hard at Arsenal. It will not be easy, because the Brazilian team has great quality, but I will work hard to get my place in the team."
Nothing major or particularly scandalous, though he doesn't half help himself at times with the shirt swapping at half time against Monaco and being spotted at a nightclub the same night he misses a game for us through "illness".
He better not get fucked up on international duty now.

Nothing major with the shirt swapping either, so why do people keep mentioning it. Ozil is one of the major stars of the game. Kondogbia one of the up and coming starlets asked for Ozils shirt. What is he supposed to say?. "Sorry the Daily Mail might say something". What is it about people, that they allow loudmouth bigots to direct their line of thinking. Even if he had given the shirt to some disabled 10 year old, some people would have a gripe with that too. Football is like warfare....but it is not exactly the same as warfare is it?.

Hmmm he could say no, wait until the end of the game. It is an opposition player after all. I think had he given it to a disabled child then the reaction would have been very different. It is just so unnecessary to do it.

Nothing wrong with swapping shirts yes, but not at half time when the game is still to be won and you still need to do a job in the second half to qualify!!
Optics matter in a widely watched and analysed game like football. Ozil gets a lot of stick (most of it unfairly) because of his perceived "casual attitude" and his supposed "lack of effort" (again all bs again) so him doing things like won't help shed that image (which was the point of my post). Even if Kondogbia was the one who asked, all he needs to say is something like "sure no problem. I'll give it you at the end of the match".
Santos was pilloried for it on here a few years ago on here when he did the same shit with RVP at Old Trafford ........ we can't have a double standard just because a better and more likable player is doing it now.

Pires was very underrated. For at least two years, the man funded all my football watching and then some. Because of all the money piling on Henry for first goalscorer bets, you got incredible odds on Pires. I was typically getting 5/1 and sometimes as high as 9/1. I bet £20+ a game and he kept delivering. Henry got more goals, but Pires got a truckload himself and set up so many more.
I loved the man.

Coutinho picks up those little pockets of space between the DCM and RB and teams struggle to contain him most of the time so i hope we can come up with something to make sure he stays quiet. He has a decent shot on him and can pick out a defense splitting pass like few others.

Not only that but...
While Tottenham fans and optimistic England fans have been raving over the young striker's incredible form in the Premier League this season, a certain sharpshooter from over the channel has quietly stolen the show.
Arsenal's Olivier Giroud has the best goals per 90min ratio of any player in the Premier League, putting him ahead of both Diego Costa and Harry Kane.
And Newcastle fans might be surprised to learn that Papiss Cisse has a more efficient goal ratio than Harry Kane.
Taking players who have scored more than five goals this season, and excluding goals from the penalty spot, Giroud is the deadliest in the league from open play.
Also...
Not only that, but he is also the most attractive man in the Premier League, according to American woman.

I think the votes were taken a month or 2 ago, so his inclusion is probably reflective of his form during Liverpool's hot streak before they lost to United.
Giroud is certainly worthy though. Can't think of too many players who have been as consistent as him. I even include Alexis in that, because I don't think he's been that great since Christmas.
Giroud has had a great season, he really has. He's integral to our style of play and his finishing has improved a lot.

Quite an interesting development at Bayern this morning/last night.
If you haven't read it already, most of their medical team including their club doctor "Müller-Wohlfahrt" have left after being disrespected and blamed by the manager (Pep) recently for their bad run of injuries lately. Really childish and pathetic stuff from Pep and I can't imagine the Bayern high brass being pleased at all with this. There's a vine of him sarcastically applauding them during the Leverkesuen game.

Normally this wouldn't be big news from our perspective, but this guy Muller-Wohlfahrt is meant to be the best in the business from what I've heard. He also looks after the German national team and he's the one who did Ozil's medical on deadline day.
Obviously with all our well documented issues with injuries and stuff how would you feel with us making an approach for him?
A bit of a shitty move towards our current club doctor, Gary O'Driscoll who I personally don't blame for any of our troubles, but football's a ruthless business these days and if the opportunity arises to get someone better at a role, normally you go in for it. It's the same for a player so I can't imagine why it should be different for another member of staff. Only problem is that the guy's 72 so I'm not sure how many years he has left in him.
Or we could just bring him in as a consultant role or to do a review of our injury/rehabilitation setup.

Certainly a bargain when you see the likes of Cavani and Falcao with £50mill+ price tags attached and Giroud is better than both based on recent evidence. Football has normal transfers and silly transfers where the likes of the chavs, gypos, manure, psg, the cuntalans, marketing pay stupid amounts among themselves. That how you end up with a superhyped piece of shit like Neymar on the books for half a bazillion quid and several suitcases of wonga chucked at the wife and her relatives.

We just lost Ox for the rest of the season apparently which is a massive blow for the kid and the club. But otherwise I don't think the injuries have been nearly as damaging this season. Didn't we have everyone (including Diaby) fit for about 15 minutes the other day? That must be a first. You can't really sack everyone when they are doing well and there's nothing to say this German bloke would be any better despite his reputation. Plus we'd have to put up with him experimenting on babies and shit like that which might be bad for PR.

Wenger has an almost religious outlook on football that transcends mere results and prioritises beauty and enjoyment. Winning without style is vulgar. The last 10 years at Arsenal have been a success that no other manager in the game can match. While others fight in the gutter for trophies Wenger serenely floats above it all. Some fans appreciate this, others are ready to sacrifice beautiful perfection for tawdry results. Most clubs would have got rid of Diaby by now.
I think that's what it was about. I was skimming once I started get bored of the repetition.

Metropolitan police are assessing footage which appears to show Arsenal fans singing a homophobic chant about Ashley Cole.
The video was apparently filmed by a supporter at the Green Man pub in Wembley ahead of Arsenal's FA Cup semi-final win over Reading.
The footage appears to show a homophobic chant – sang along to Lily Allen song Smile – being aimed at Cole, who left Arsenal to join London rivals Chelsea in 2006.

lol, the mother of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who's apparently a promising youth player in our system assaulted a couple of members of our staff at our training ground including chief negotiator Dick Law and now she's been permanently banned from visiting. Apparently she refused to leave and so the club had to call the police on her. Not sure how it'll impact her's son's career but the club are trying to downplay it this morning meaning most likely that he'll still be given a fair chance. He's had a few bench appearances earlier this season (during our injury crisis) though given the level we're at (and are aspiring to become) now, I don't think he's going to make it. Arsenal ban Ainsley Maitland-Niles's mother over 'assault'
Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ parent 'hit club negotiator’ before she is banned from Arsenal’s London Colney training ground
Arsenal have banned the mother of one of their most promising young players from the club after she appeared to hit Arsène Wenger’s chief negotiator, Dick Law, and allegedly threatened to drag her son off the pitch during an under-21s game. Police were called to Arsenal’s London Colney training ground last month and arrested the mother of Ainsley Maitland-Niles on suspicion of assaulting two people, although no further action was taken.
A member of the Arsenal ground staff and another man accused Jule Niles of assault, but Law was also apparently struck following a meeting about the player.
Maitland-Niles this season became the second youngest player to represent Arsenal in a Champions League game, when he replaced Aaron Ramsey against Galatasaray in December, aged 17 years 102 days.
Four days later, the midfielder made his Premier League debut in the 4-1 victory against Newcastle United and played as a substitute against Hull City in the FA Cup. Maitland-Niles has trained with Wenger’s first-team squad on several occasions and has represented England at Under-17 and Under-18 level.
Niles was arrested on suspicion of assault, but was released without charge. Arsenal told her that she could no longer enter the club’s London Colney training base.
Despite her ban, players, family members and spectators were astonished to see Niles turn up for the Arsenal Under-21 fixture against Aston Villa last Friday in which Maitland-Niles played. Witnesses claim that Niles became aggressive, shouting from the touchline and threatening to enter the pitch and drag her son out of the game.
Stewards intervened, but the police were again called and this time the mother received a warning. Arsenal lost the match 3-1.
An injury prevented Maitland-Niles being involved in the next under-21 game against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday and the incidents involving his mother have not changed Arsenal’s positive attitude towards him. Maitland-Niles is described as being a highly rated footballer and a polite and hard-working individual. He is well liked by club staff and both the youth and senior players.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire police said: “Police were called at 4.11pm on March 20 to the location to reports two people had allegedly been assaulted by a woman. They suffered superficial injuries. Officers attended and a 36-year-old woman from Watford was arrested on suspicion of assault.
“She has since been released with no further action to be taken against her. Police were called to the location on Friday, April 24 at 2.40pm to reports a woman was refusing to leave the premises. Officers attended and the woman was issued with a warning.”
An Arsenal spokesman said the matter was private and that the club would not be making any comment. Law’s role at Arsenal is similar to a director of football and he has helped negotiate on some of the biggest and most successful deals in the club’s recent history. Having started work for Arsenal as a scout in South America, Law helped to take Gilberto Silva and Carlos Vela to the club before formalising his present role in 2009.
Law has since negotiated with Real Madrid officials over the record £42.5 million signing of Mesut Özil and dealt with Barcelona chiefs last summer to help with the signing of Alexis Sánchez. He is helping Wenger with Arsenal’s end-of-season transfer plans.
When contacted by Telegraph Sport in an effort to put the allegations to Niles, the spokesman for Maitland-Niles refused to comment.
After making his Champions League debut this season, Maitland-Niles said: “I’m just really happy and I want to thank my family and God mostly for putting me here, and Arsenal for giving me the chance. I was a bit nervous at first, but it brought a smile to my face.”
Along with Gedion Zelalem and Stefan O’Connor, the performance of Maitland-Niles against Galatasaray drew praise from Ramsey who said: “We came here with a few players making their first-team debuts and they did great. It was really nice to see some of the 17-year-olds making their debuts and I was really pleased for them. This club is all about promoting younger players with talent.”
Gary Lineker has complained previously about parental behaviour by saying: “The competitive nature of most mums and dads is astounding,” the former England striker said. “The fear they instill in our promising but sensitive [youngsters] is utterly depressing. We need a parental cultural revolution.”

lol, the mother of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who's apparently a promising youth player in our system assaulted a couple of members of our staff at our training ground including chief negotiator Dick Law and now she's been permanently banned from visiting. Probably'll end up at Barnsley or whatever in a few years. Still, it should be his/his family's final chance, no need to tolerate any shit from them; we're hardly dealing with the next Messi or Ronaldo here.

Ticket prices will remain the same as last year’s event, priced £10 for Club Level, £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
Further ticket information and on-sale dates will be announced on Arsenal.com soon, along with additional information on club activity in the run-up to the game.

He's going to need at least a billion pounds to buy us given current market valuations and given our assets (stadium, brand reputation etc etc) and lack of debt. All good and well saying it now but when the time comes to pony up the cash he may get cold feet. It's probably just a PR move from him at this moment.
That being said if we were taken over I'd much be taken over by someone who's already a multi billionaire and seems to be a fan (well he claims to be one) instead of a leech like Glazer or Hicks and Gillette who operate on borrowing money to take over clubs and then placing the interest onto the club.

Football fans in being hypocrites shocker.
Plus it'd only be hypocritical if he pumps his personal money in to buy world class players to elevate us into an artificial position to win leagues and trophies. Given the fact that we're self sufficient now, that's not going to happen. We can win the league without any outside investment.
I'm not advocating this move either as well, just saying that given an ideal German style fan ownership type model is nigh on impossible now, having a billionaire who doesn't seem as mad as a hatter and is actually a fan own the club wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

it is true though and then it would be close. That team is the best to have played in the Premier League and they had a number of players who could have played in any team in the World Campbell, Cole, Vieira, Pires, Henry.
Sure, not many of our current side would make that team, but then who else in the PL would?

Charlie Adam's 65-yard effort against arguably the world's best goalkeeper was a once-in-a-lifetime strike. Wilshere's, while spectacular and technically difficult, was nothing of the sort.
What balls! Charlie Adam's was a hit and hope and frankly if anyone scores from that range it's a goal-keeping error.
Even Wilshere's was a hit and hope. Doubt he planned to hit a top corner, just tried to twat it as hard as he could. Wilshere's strike was better though. His goal from last year deserved to win but this year there have been a few better. Zamora's was more calculated. I thought Pelle's was the best. Not many special goals in general though, not a memorable year in terms of goals or matches.

Who's that quote from? What they don't get is the 'once-in-a-lifetime' bit of their own statement. Yes Charlie, do it again. Impossible because it was a pure fluke in the first place. So should a pure fluke be goal of the season? Not really. Austin's header for QPR last Sunday was a better goal than Adam's, not as spectacular, but technically excellent and intended. Wilshere's is a mile ahead but not on par with some of the excellent team goals we have scored this season. Out of the bunch of spectacular (which is the main and stupid criteria) goals Zamora's was the best because it was spectacular (ticks the idiot box) and it was technical and it was intended.

Just doesn't seem that difficult a skill to execute too me (relatively speaking)..... that sort of finish isn't usually executed from as far out as he was or under the pressure which may be why it's been hyped but it's a comfortable part of the ball to hit in a comfortable body position.

I actually watched that :-(
Sort of like a non-dumbed down version of everything that came after it. A bit like I'm a Cunt of a Celebrity, Kill Me Now (or whatever it's called) versus Survivor. In survivor they all really died and got eaten by alligators. But it's all camera trickery in Ant and Dec's bastard thing - especially how they carefully edit out the giant dicks on their foreheads.
