It's nothing to do with money IMO. Dortmund has a lot of money and is in CL. There is no need for Goetze to move or for the club to sell. They are also in good position in their own domestic comp. There is no reason for the player to push for a transfer. Maybe in January Goetze will change his mind, we never know. :coffee:

Yeah you're right!
think the article was getting at this year's CL is about to dry up due to BD's precarious position. . .league form is good so there is a good chance of qualication next year.
Just that this kid is a talent and with all that was going on this summer, if stories are to be belivered we made a strong approach for him, I for one, would like to see us follow this up again and I wouldnt mind us breaking the bank doing so either, could spell the end to someone, Benny or Arshavin maybe

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11679/7284749/Tevez-open-to-English-deal
Carlos Tevez's representative Kia Joorabchian claims that the Argentine would be willing to stay in the Premier League.
Tevez has long stated his main reason for previously wanting to leave Manchester City was that his family could not settle in England.
"His family are now living in England, so he's quite happy and settled...He'd be happy to move to another Premier League club."
Kia Joorabchian Quotes of the week
However, off the back of his latest row with the club which has seen him exiled to the reserves, his agent Joorabchian now insists a move within the Premier League is a valid option.
"His family are now living in England, so he's quite happy and settled," said Joorabchian in the Daily Mirror.
"He had some problems about being away from them before, but they are with him now and everything is fine.
"He'd be happy to move to another Premier League club."
Changes
Tevez was last week charged and fined by Manchester City, after an internal investigation, following their UEFA Champions league clash with Bayern Munich in September.
City boss Roberto Mancini stated Tevez refused to come off the bench, but this was later dropped and he was charged with failing to carry out duties for not warming up.
City tried to fine Tevez four weeks' wages, but the Professional Footballers' Association backed the Argentine's stance and this was reduced to two weeks.
And Joorabchian feels the downgrade in the charges has altered the situation with the player.
"This week, the Professional Footballers' Association rejected the claim that he had refused to come on as a substitute," said Joorabchian.
"That has changed everything and clarified what actually happened.
"Carlos was desperate to play. He loves to play the game and always wants to play. Having to sit on the sidelines is very tough for him.
"It's not easy for him at the moment, but, in the January transfer window, City will want to get him out either on a permanent basis or on loan.
"We'll have to wait and see what happens."
He also confirmed that, despite interest from his former club West Ham, he would not contemplate a move back to Upton Park.
"He loves West Ham, but that's not going to happen," he added.
WTF are you waiting for *******? :coffee:

Cologne general manager Volker Finke has shrugged off Arsenal's reported interest in star striker Lukas Podolski and says he expects him to extend his deal in the near future.
The Germany international is out of contract with the Bundesliga side in June 2013 and has been linked with a move away from the RheinEnergie stadium next summer.
The Gunners are thought to be chasing the 26-year-old's signature but Finke refused to be drawn on that speculation when questioned by Germany daily BILD.
He said: "I am trying to stay indifferent to rumours like this. We all know what we are facing.
"Sometime around Christmas we will be going to meet to try and thrash out the contract extension of Lukas Podolski.
Fix
"I have already spoken to his agent, Kon Schramm. We have no clear date just now.
"Maybe we will meet two weeks before Christmas or two weeks after Christmas. We should fix this without any pressure."
Manager Stale Solbakken added: "It's pretty usual there is big interest in a player like Podolski. He needs to talk to his family, his agent and the club about his future."
Polish-born Podolski, who arrived in Cologne from Bayern Munich in 2009, has scored eight goals for the German club so far this season.

ARSENAL are weighing up a January swoop for Real Madrid outcast Esteban Granero.
The 24-year-old Spaniard has been largely a fringe player since Jose Mourinho took charge at the Bernabeu, appearing just 17 times last season.
Granero has featured just twice this term and faces competition in midfield from the likes of Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil and Xabi Alonso.
The Gunners have lost Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby to long-term injuries already recently and Marca claims boss Arsene Wenger has spoken to Mourinho about a £6million move.

Borussia Dortmund starlet Mario Gotze has played down speculation linking him with a move away from the club.
Arsenal (http://topics.skysports.com/arsenal/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif and Bayern Munich (http://topics.skysports.com/Bayern+Munich/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif have both been credited with an interest in the 19-year-old playmaker who is regarded as one of the best youngsters in Europe.
Gotze revealed last week that he 'could not rule out anything' regarding his future, stating that he needed to be playing regular UEFA Champions League football.
However, Gotze, who has a contract until 2014, insists he is happy to stay at Dortmund.
"I am really happy here," said Gotze. "That is all that counts.
"I have a contract here until 2014 and I am more than happy.

Yann M’Vila is likely to join Arsenal or Real Madrid next year, according to his Rennes team-mate and friend Kader Mangane.
M’Vila was the subject of four bids "of around €30 million [£26m]" from Champions League clubs including Arsenal during last summer, according to Rennes.
Mangane believes it is inevitable that the highly coveted defensive midfielder will be sold by the Ligue 1 club in the next 12 months.
“There has been no decision taken so far,” Mangane told Goal.com of M’Vila’s future. “He might go to England but he also likes the Spanish league. I don’t think he will leave in January but I think he will join Real Madrid or Arsenal next summer.
“The top clubs are right to scout him as I see him with a big career in front of him. Yann has the potential to be one of the biggest players in the world. He has extraordinary abilities.”
Mangane, who has been converted from a midfielder to a centre-half during his three years at Rennes, has watched M’Vila, 21, come through the ranks into the first team.
“You can see he is a fantastic player from what he does in training,” explained the 28-year-old. “Yann is good enough to play anywhere in the world. He is a complete player. He has a good eye for the game, he is technically excellent and he is also very good at defending and regaining balls.”
Mangane will take a break from domestic football in the new year to concentrate on the Africa Cup of Nations, where he does not consider his Senegal to be one of the most fancied teams.
“We are the outsiders,” he said. “Teams like Ghana and the Ivory Coast are certainly the favourites, especially because Cameroon have not qualified.
“Ghana played well in the last World Cup and last Africa Cup of Nations, so you expect them to play well next year. In terms of individual players, Ivory Coast are quite strong with a lot of players playing at top European clubs.
“They have big players like [Didier] Drogba and Yaya Toure, Ghana have [Asamoah] Gyan and we have Demba Ba.”
Mangane admits that the current Senegal team is not as strong as their 2002 predecessors, who reached the World Cup quarter-finals and were runners-up in the Africa Cup of Nations.
“They are two different generations,” he said. “In 2002, Senegal had a team that made the whole country sit up and watch their performance. We have a young team now with some really strong players and we are going to try and match what they did.”
Ba has been on fire following his summer move to Newcastle United, scoring eight goals in his last seven Premier League games, including hat-tricks against Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers.
Mangane explained: “For me, it is not a surprise that he is playing at a really high level. In the last few years he had a lot of injuries but now that he has avoided injury and is back close to 100 per cent, he has shown that he is an amazing player in terms of quality and technique.
“He has a physical presence, protects the ball very well, has a very good shot and is incredibly good in the penalty box at getting on the end of crosses.”
Mangane also praised the professionalism of his international colleague, saying: “He takes his job seriously and is a serious guy. He likes to stay with his family and concentrate on his football. It doesn’t mean that he isn’t fun but he works hard and is serious about what he is doing.”

Coquelin eyes Gunners exit
France U21 international hungry for first-team action at Arsenal
Arsenal youngster Francis Coquelin has warned Arsene Wenger he is ready to quit the club in the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old joined the Gunners in 2008 from Stade Lavallois but has been on the periphery of the first-team since his arrival.
Coquelin flourished on loan at Lorient last term and felt his displays in his homeland would earn him more regular action.
Wenger, though, has opted use him sparingly, giving him just two outings this campaign, the last being in the 8-2 thumping at Old Trafford.
But the confident France Under-21 international believes it is time he was given more chances, otherwise he will have to consider his options.
Annoying
"I thought I had a shot to play so I decided to stay at Arsenal," Coquelin.
"I played a lot at first, even big games, but when players came back from injury I just disappeared.
"It is often said that when you are young you have time but I played a whole season at Lorient and now I'm virtually not playing at all. It's annoying.
"Given my playing time here, the idea of a departure this winter is in my head for sure."

Yeah he can. Either he wants to shut his face and wait until he's called or he can piss off and moan somewhere else. Same should go for all of them. We've had enough of what the players want, now it's time for the fans who pay their wages to get something back. Doesn't the little cunt know our confidence is fragile and we are only just bouncing back and need positivity from every last person connected with the club - rather than selfish bullshit? Wilshere is in a different category from all of these other youngsters. He always has been.
Wenger's style of management is different from other managers. Other managers are more proactive - they play players that are in form and are quick to drop under-performing players. Wenger's approach is: 'This is my best team. Whenever they are fit, they will play. Another player can only break into the team if they prove they are bloody brilliant'.
When Senderos was playing well, Toure got straight back into the team after coming back from the ACoN a few years back. When Fabianski/Almunia were fucking up time and time again, and everyone (well, me, at least) was calling for Szczesny to be given a chance, it took Wengers ages to give him a go. Alex Chamberlain seems to impress every time he plays for us or England U21's...under-performing players like Walcott aren't dropped. Wilshere was an exception - he was put straight into the team last season because it was blatantly obvious he was bloody good. Otherwise, Wenger doesn't do 'experiments'...he has what he thinks is his best team, and he'll stick with it.
I'll bet you £3974598375493 that Koscielny - definitely one of our best players in recent weeks - will be left out for the Norwich game and Kos-Verm will play.
In the case of Coq, he has played well - but Wenger won't give him chances purely based on that. He needs to be outstanding to get more chances. I can understand him wanting to leave.

New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream has admitted that Arsenal are tracking him.
The USA international is being strongly linked with a move across the Atlantic, after an impressive campaign in New York.
24-year-old Ream, who has seven full caps to his name, was asked about reported Arsenal interest and confirmed they wanted him.
"I guess its public knowledge now and there have been others [teams]," Ream said.
"It's good to have teams tracking you but it can't be a distraction either. If something comes of it, so be it. It would be a chance of a lifetime."
Ream is also being tracked by other teams and reports suggest that West Bromwich Albion have invited him for a trial with a view to a loan move.
"If someone comes and wants me to possibly come over on a loan deal, I think we'll explore that opportunity," he said.
Ream also revealed that he may train with Red Bulls' sister club in Salzburg.
"He [Jurgen Klinsmann, US coach] is kind of setting all of that up," Ream said. "There is nothing concrete as of yet."

However, his growing maturity is enabling him to take all the adulation in his stride.
"Inter is a fantastic squad," Hazard told Corriere dello Sport.

"Of course the interest of top clubs can only please me. When a great club like Inter that has won so much wants me, this can only make me proud."

Borussia Dortmund star Kevin Grosskreutz has admitted he would be interested in a move to Arsenal.
Arsenal are thought to be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old after being impressed by him in this season's UEFA Champions League.
The Gunners saw Grosskreutz close up when they faced Dortmund in the Champions League in September and they have been keeping tabs on his progress ever since.
Grosskreutz is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Germany after breaking into the national team last season and helping Dortmund win the Bundesliga last term.
"If I do ever leave Dortmund, I would like to go to the Premier League in England, and my favourite club there is Arsenal," Grosskreutz is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.

Fair enough, but it bugs me we are just getting back on track as a team so some little bitch has to pop up and say - what about me, me me?

That's one way of viewing it, another is to view other managers as reactive if they drop underperforming players. Proactive would be to drop them before their form dipped. I have no idea what all other managers do tbh.
Wenger's philosophy may be seen as too overprotective. Knowing the importance of confidence, the threat of getting dropped might be too much pressure to perform for their fragile minds.
I notice Arshavin's been effectively busted down from first choice.
Appropos of this, Sir Chesney, made noises about leaving, immediately bagged a bumper contract, grabbed his chance when handed it, albeit through injury.
Coq's no first teamer, does he think he can offer more than the incumbent 3? If not, why should he be picked? The enormous pressure to get results isn't exactly conducive to blooding an inexperienced kid in a squad already over-populated with CMs.
It's also worth remembering that Wilshire was about to go out on loan before injury gave him his chance. In the games he got, he made himself undroppable.
Coq needs to either:
A) wait his chance (difficult this season given the resources in front of him) and be absolutely blinding when he gets it.
B) Go on loan (do rules allow him to leave on loan any point in the season?)
Or C) he can go in Jan like he's threatening to, if he can't handle the wait.
I'd prefer B) but also, m'eh.

Schalke are ready to offer Arsenal the chance to swap Andrey Arshavin for Jefferson Farfan.
According to reports in Germany, the Bundesliga side are desperate not to lose Farfan for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the season - and he is unlikely to sign a new deal.
But Schalke will not sell the Peruvian forward, 27, in January unless they can secure a replacement.
And it is understood that they have set their sights on Arshavin, Arsenal's record signing, who has become a bit-part player at The Emirates.
It has been reported that Schalke are hoping to solve their Farfan dilemma by offering Arsenal a straight swap for Arshavin.
The Gunners want around £15m for the 30-year-old which is around what Schalke would want for Farfan, considering his contract situation.

I know that this has probably been discussed already, but why didn't Arsenal go after Ashley Young last summer? I know he is a big Arsenal fan. Seems like it would have been good balance with him and Theo. Just curious. As for Arshavin...I never really liked that dude anyway. What's with the shsh with the finger after he scores. I understand doing it in the direction of the oppositions fans, but he does it every time. He would probably do it if Arsenal was 3 goals up. The opposition fans wouldn't be making much noise then. The 26-year-old striker started for Norway at Cardiff City Stadium last week in the 4-1 loss to Wales and has scored nine Bundesliga goals this season for Hannover, attracting attention from numerous clubs across England.
Abdellaoue told The Daily Mirror: "I have two years left on my contract.
"Perhaps I will get a new contract I don't know. I play football and my agent takes care of that.
"If something else happens it will go through my agent. We will have to see if something comes and take it from there.

"I look at how the Premier League is and you never know before you try it but I have confidence in myself and big belief so if something happens you never know."

SAM ALLARDYCE has made a move to sign Arsenal misfit Sebastien Squillaci on loan.
But the plan has stalled because the Gunners are desperate to offload the French defender on a permanent deal.
West Ham need cover while centre-half Winston Reid recovers from a dislocated shoulder.
But FIFA rules mean a player can only be registered with two teams in a season and lending Squillaci would rule out flogging him in January — unless the Hammers bought him.
That is unlikely as Squillaci earns around £40,000 a week. Only a thigh injury stopped Arsenal selling the 31-year-old this summer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out a January bid for Bolton defender Gary Cahill, and claimed that the Trotters were greedy in previous negotiations.
Wenger is a known admirer of Cahill and has tried on numerous occasions to bring him to the Emirates, but says he no longer has an interest in the Bolton player.
Cahill is out of contract in the summer so could be sold for a cut-price fee in January, though Frenchman Wenger says he will not be getting involved in any negotiations with Bolton.
"Cahill is good enough to play Champions League, but he is not someone I would be interested in," Wenger was quoted as saying by SkySports.
"I have got five central defenders - [Laurent] Koscielny, [Sebastien] Squillaci, [Per] Mertesacker, [Thomas] Vermaelen and [Johan] Djourou. Of this five, four are international players.
"We were in the market in the summer, but at that time they [Bolton] were greedy."
Wenger brought in numerous players in the summer and despite still being some way off the Premier League leaders he claims he is not looking to sign anybody when the window re-opens in January.
"In football you rule very few things out, because it depends if you have seven injuries until January.
"However, at the moment we have a big enough squad to cope."

Arsenal, Tottenham and Inter are weighing up moves for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Alejandro Faurlin, Goal.com can reveal.
The Argentine has been in impressive so far this season and is being watched closely by top clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
Faurlin, 25, is rated at around £10 million by QPR and has also attracted interest from Napoli.
Arsenal have scouted Faurlin a number of times in the last year and Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is an admirer of his passing ability and intelligence.
Tottenham have shortlisted Faurlin as a potential target to replace Luka Modric if the Croatian playmaker at the end of the season.
Faurlin has been tracked by Inter ever since he turned down a move to the San Siro as he felt he would get more playing opportunities at QPR, who he joined from Instituto de Cordoba in July 2009 in a club record £3.5m deal.
Faurlin found himself at the centre of a controversy last season when complications over his transfer and registration almost cost QPR their promotion to the Premier League.
The west London club were accused of breaking third-party ownership regulations when they signed Faurlin and only escaped the threat of a points deduction on the final day of the season.

ARSENE WENGER has labelled Mario Gotze "a very good player", but has ruled out a January swoop for the German sensation.
Gotze has lit up the Bundesliga this year with a series of breath-taking displays for Borussia Dortmund and has attracted interest around Europe.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the talented 19-year-old, but Gunners boss Wenger says his squad is already bursting at the seams.
The Frenchman said: ''We have a big squad and we are not after anybody.
''Gotze is a very good player. I can understand there is a lot of interest in him around Europe.
''On our side, I do not think this is the best time to talk about it."
German international Gotze should make an appearance at the Emirates tomorrow as Dortmund take on Arsenal in the Champions League.

I think it’s too late to buy a striker. If something happens to RVP, it would be good to see Wenger buy a new striker to take over, but I don’t see that happening. He’ll give Park a shot up front and may even change the formation to play Arshavin behind Park.
Unless we get hit with the plague and a load of our players are out injured, then I’d hope Wenger buys in the market and reacts to the situation. I think Park could turn out to be decent buy. He’s quick, he has good technique, he’s not afraid to shoot and he will get chances once our players get used to his movement.

If a certain hot shot player is available and players like RVP, Theo, Rosicky, Arshavin, Song…still haven’t signed new contracts, then maybe we should think about signing players in this window in case we are forced to sell next year.

Players needed in Jan
Back up keeper - If anything happens to Szdcxbsdjbny then we're fucked cos the other 3 we have are arguably the worst around.
Back up RB - With Sagna dead for a while, we dont have a very good option there in the squad.
Back up CB - Mert and Verm are fine. The back ups arent. Cahill is a must get here
First choice LB - Santos cant defend although good going forward. Gibbs is dead. Need someone who can attack and defend. Jose Enrique anyone? Wenger
DMs - Happy enough with Song and Coq for now and should he be needed and lets hope hes not then Frimpong as crap as he is is an adequate 3rd choice DM as all he'll do is go round fouling people ala Essien, Savage and others of that ilk.
CMs/AMs - Goetze and Hazard are better than anyone we have in these positions
Striker - Im not one whos too concerned for when RVP is injured for months later in the season. Last time that happened, Chamakh came in and did very well with a run in the team. Not so good when hes hardly played and then put in though. Could do with a striker but not a priority.
So by that reckoning, that 6 players needed, most only as back up. Could be 7 if we get a striker but as i said, its not that big a deal
Think we need a striker, attacking midfielder and cover for the defense. Happy enough with the general make up of our team but think we'll struggle with a midfield of Wilshere-Song-Arteta against top teams. Another striker is a must, one VP injury and our season is over. Think Park could do a job when needed but not sure how he'll be if we have to rely on him for goals for an extended period of time.
Would be surprised if Wenger doesn't get someone in defense given that our right side is completely fucked and Gibbs is injured more often than not, someone like Chivu would be a good buy to cover while the youngster develop.

And to be fair, he contributes about as much as the Russian does at the moment, nothing.

Arsenal target Esteban Granero will be allowed to leave Real Madrid in January after a showdown meeting with boss Jose Mourinho.
A Real insider said: "If we receive a good offer it will be studied."
That leaves the way open for the Gunners to land the £6million-rated former Spanish Under-21 star.
Grenero, 24, has largely been a fringe player since Mourinho took charge, appearing just 17 times last season.
But Arsenal boss Wenger has long been a fan and believes the midfielder can help take some of the creative burden off Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey.

LILLE striker Moussa Sow has issued a 'come-and-get-me' plea to Arsenal.
The Gunners scouted the Senegal international while checking on Eden Hazard and Gervinho last season.
Arsene Wenger splashed £10.7million on Gervinho in the summer but failed to follow up his interest in Hazard or Sow.
But with Marouane Chamakh and Chu-Young Park failing to provide adequate backup for Robin van Persie, Sow has revealed he is ready to move to the Emirates Stadium at the end of this campaign.
The 25-year-old told French radio station RMC Sports: "I have a contract signed until June 2013 and Lille want me to sign another one but the negotiations have stopped.
"I don't accept the conditions or the silence from the club. That's not me putting on pressure, just the truth.
"I'm only thinking about football and it's not possible to leave in January.
"But my dream is to play in the Premier League because you progress as a player with the atmosphere, goals and game.
"I watch the games with envy on TV. I desire to play there one day. Arsenal are a big club but we will see."
Sow has scored 29 goals in 48 league games for Lille since joining from Rennes 18 months ago.

Doesn't matter who we get tbf, playing as a back up striker is a nightmare as you cant form an understanding with the players in the first team and you only play sporadically.
I know most guys on here hate Chamakh but imagine how hard it is to sit on the bench week in week out and then be suddenly plunged into the team and expected to deliver.

a nightmare on 50k a week, yeah, i dont think there will be any tears at his treatment
I'm just as synical as it gets with footballers who earn far too much. But I'm also of the opinion that if you're footballer for a top 10 side in Europe (which we roughly are), you must've had enough of a drive to get you into that incredibly competitive position in the first place. You have to be exceptionally talented if you're playing at this level despite not letting football be your life. Arshavin is probably the only one in our squad that could qualify. I think it's unfair to assume Chamakh is content with his role in the squad, but I guess we'll find out soon enough in the next transfer window.

When someone gives you lemons they say you should make Lemmonade. Chamakh does not get many chances these days, only Wenger knows why, but when he gets them he don't seem to take to chances and make a name for himself.
He needs to show he is good enough to be a starter or he'll have no choice but to sit on a bench.

Arsenal have been told they will have to smash their transfer record to land Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze.
The Gunners (http://www.goonersweb.co.uk/sports-news/football/clubs/t3/arsenal) were hoping to agree a £25m fee now and tie up the deal when the transfer window re-opens in January – but the Bundesliga champions have told them they will not accept anything less than £30m.
Arsene Wenger (http://www.goonersweb.co.uk/sports-news/term/arsene-wenger), keen to add quality to his midfield following the summer departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri (http://www.goonersweb.co.uk/sports-news/football/players/p28554/samir-nasri), is desperate to land one of the hottest talents in Europe and has made his move now in a bid to head off interest from Manchester United (http://www.goonersweb.co.uk/sports-news/football/clubs/t1/manutd), Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
The potential signing of Gotze and other quality additions to the squad could be seen as a real statement of intent and Wenger hopes it could also persuade skipper Robin van Persie (http://www.goonersweb.co.uk/sports-news/football/players/p12297/robin-van-persie) to commit his long-term future to the club.
Van Persie, who has been in formidable form this year, has 18 months left on his current contract and is expected to leave next summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Well yes and no, i hear people on here saying they want us to go out and spend X on a world class striker and so on, cos there is loads of them out there that would a) Play for Arsenal and b) sit on the bench week in week out.
I appreciate RvP is a little injury prone or at least used to be but there isn't a striker out there that is that much better than Park or Chamakh that would come and sit on the bench until/if/when Robin gets injured.
With the growth of Walcott and Koscielny and form of the new guys plus Ramsey's brilliant season so far the only place i could possible see us reinforcing is the left wing, but again we wont buy a starter as we have Gervinho ripping shit up out there. Also how much would Wenger spend when he has Miyachi and the Ox waiting in the wings?
Also as we now have a pretty much nailed on first XI (bar the Mertcielny issue) we can either buy more kids with potential or spend a massive amount replacing a first teamer, cant see either happening

Ideally the new striker wouldn't just sit on the bench. We would be rotating strikers frequently. Would give us options off the bench as well.
At the moment if RVP is playing and we're not scoring then we have no different options to come on.
