Charting The Seasons With Harry Redknapp
You know how it is. The summer is here. The weather is warm. Optimism is high. The disappointments and grinding of the season has yet to chip away at the spirit. The crushing reality that most football teams fail horribly is forgotten for a while.
And it seems you can chart the fluctuation of the seasons via Harry Redknapp's hopes for Tottenham. Observe:
Summer high spirits - July 22, 2010: "I feel we could contend for the title; we have got the players here. We have to aim for it. We could win the championship. Last year, we went in saying we wanted to finish in the top four and if you don't aim for things, you have no chance."
Winter gloom - November 26, 2010: "This season we're definitely outsiders but with this group of players I have said it's not an impossible ask. The title race is more open this year than for many. And I think neutrals like to see a fresh face in the mix. We had Everton not so long ago, now Tottenham, who finished in the top four last season. With this group of players I wouldn't want anyone to rule us out."
Winter despair - February 22, 2011: "I think people get carried away thinking Tottenham should be in the Champions League. Why should we be in the Champions League? It would be a miracle if we did that. We'd never been in the Champions League before. Suddenly we do it and it's, "Oh well, we should do it again". Look at Man City, Chelsea. Have a look at their wage bill...Why should we finish above them? I think that if we make the top four it'll be a fantastic achievement for the players, but it will be tough."
Spring realism - April 8, 2011: "It's very difficult to make that top four now, but it will be even harder next year because Liverpool will come with a real rattle. They won't settle for not being a top-four club again next year. And you have City, who can't afford to be out of that top four."
And back to summer high spirits - June 4, 2011: "We've got a great group of players. If we could add a couple to that group we can achieve anything at Tottenham. I want to win the championship with Tottenham that's my ambition. It's not impossible...We played some great stuff last year and the year before so there's no reason we can't [challenge for the title]."

Also, great article about 'Arry Crooknapp: http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2010/01/harrys-game.html
Closing paragraph:
Harry Redknapp has achieved relatively little in football, yet receives far more credit than he deserves. He is a sneaky, disloyal, feeble excuse for a manager, who appears to be motivated more by money than results. As he infamously said, possibly when taking in the ocean view from his palatial property in Sandbanks, “At the end of the day, no one gives a monkey’s about you once your career’s over, so in my view you should make the bucks while you can”. This is one manager for whom money is never too tight to mention.

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of former Barcelona youngster Cristian Ceballos after he impressed in a trial at the end of last season.
Ceballos shot to fame four years ago when he was filmed juggling a ball with then Barca star Ronaldinho, but he did not progress as well as the Primera Liga champions had liked and they released him from his contract last season.
The 18-year-old trained with Chelsea in March and visited Spurs' training ground towards the end of last season for a trial and his performances at Chigwell were good enough to lead the Spurs hierarchy, including Harry Redknapp, to offer the teenager a contract.
Ceballos, who can play as an attacking midfielder or forward, will now go in to the club's development squad.
Spurs' technical co-ordinator Tim Sherwood said: "Cristian trained hard and showed some real quality when he originally spent time here towards the end of last season and was even involved in some of the first-team training.
"There was other interest in him too. He needs to be patient and if he can fulfil his potential we believe he can play at the top level."

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is to face trial accused of tax evasion relating to his time as manager of Portsmouth Football Club.
Mr Redknapp and ex-Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric are charged with two counts of cheating the public revenue.
Two payments totalling $295,000 (about £183,000) were allegedly made by Mr Mandaric, now chairman of Sheffield Wednesday, to Mr Redknapp.
They are due to be tried at Southwark Crown Court on 23 January 2012.
The case is expected to last two weeks.
Mr Redknapp, 64, who lives in Poole, Dorset, recently underwent heart surgery to unblock coronary arteries.
He and Mr Mandaric, 73, who lives in Oadby, Leicestershire, will each face two charges relating to alleged payments to a Monaco bank account opened by Mr Redknapp.

Scandals? Not really. After many years of him being accused of all sorts of things which have been investigated by the police and the media, they have now only got one accusation against him which will be in court in a couple of months and we don't know what the outcome will be. (BTW, if it was clear cut, why has it taken years to come to court). Capello was also accused of dodging tax in Italy and that case was still pending as he was made England manager.

Interesting how the powers that be go for 'arry owing a few grand in tax - fair enough, if he tried to evade tax, then he should be dealt with.
Nothing happens to Tony Blair who apparently earned something in the region of 8 million last year but only paid about 7 thousand in tax. Still, I'm sure it was all legal, above board and what you would expect of the ex-leader of the party which is supposed to represent ordinary working people.
Fortunately, the system is not biased in favour of the priviledged and/or wealthy. :good:

In truth you are 100% correct. Redknapp is being used as an example, high profile future England manager. The fuckwads in charge imagine if they send the message no (non-establishment) figure is immune then the fear factor is upped for the regular Joe in the street. But, in the politically correct, see no evil ,hear no evil, oh yes guv the government is the servant of the public and certainly not a criminal enterprise even though it has all the characteristics of the mafia, world, people will shake their heads and say the law is being upheld. That would be the law that applies to everyone except those that control and make the law. Tax by the definitions of the long established rights of the British citizen is illegal unlawful anyway, except at certain times and under certain circumstances, but nobody ever talks about that. People also forget that statute is not common law, it's a silly contractual law that has to trick the citizen into compliance before it can be enforced - and there are many ways to do this. If Harry had a decent lawyer (and there are very, VERY few lawyers who understand the law), he could easily get off this charge. But he'll play the establishment game and end up with the fine. It's all about money in the end anyway. The judicial system, just like the government, is theatre to distract from the primary business of the ruling classes, extraction of assets from the regular citizen. You talk about this to people and they stare blankly. Television has a lot to answer for.

The prosecution's case appeared to be flimsy at times. In particular, the prosecution never had an answer to a question that Redknapp and Mandaric asked over and over again. Why would two men who had paid so many millions of pounds in taxes over the years try to concoct such an elaborate fiddle in order to save such a relatively small sum of money?
There's the rub. The fact is they failed to make a case and so he has to be found not guilty. Pretty straight forward really.
While I understand that some people might think he is a bit of a barrow boy, might hate him because he manages spuds, etc., the thing that I like about this country is that people can't get locked up just because a load of people don't like them.

Which is a nice principle and one I'm overall in favour of.
But it does mean that the clever barristers which Rosie 'Arry can afford are able to use technicalities or create enough confusion about what the law actually is - especially in areas when the law is complex - to get people off who are quite clearly guilty.
Not that I'm suggesting for one minute that that's what 'Arry did of course...

Harry Redknapp says Gareth Bale is not a diver and only goes to ground because opponents "kick him from pillar to post" each week.Winger Bale (http://topics.skysports.com/Gareth+Bale/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif was heavily criticised for winning Tottenham a penalty in their 5-2 defeat at Arsenal. (http://topics.skysports.com/arsenal/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif
Ex-referee Graham Poll accused the winger of fooling Mike Dean (http://topics.skysports.com/Mike+Dean/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gifinto awarding the spot-kick after replays showed there was little, if any, contact between the Wales international and Wojciech Szczesny.
Bale has been booked in previous seasons for simulation, but Redknapp (http://topics.skysports.com/Harry+Redknapp/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif insists he is not a cheat.
"I don't think he dives," the Tottenham manager said.
"I haven't spoken to him about it and there is no need to. He gets kicked form pillar to post most Saturdays.
"I think you will find there is an awful lot of players who have been booked for chopping him down with cynical challenges this year, rather than him going down under no challenge.
Pace"He takes some rough treatment, he gets chopped down an awful lot because he runs so quick and he changes direction so quickly.
"He has to accept it. The great players do like Messi and Ronaldo.
"I watch Spanish football every week and Messi gets chopped down and kicked but he gets up and gets on with it. He never misses a game.
"Gareth is a great young player with a fantastic future and he has to accept that.
"It doesn't worry me. He is 6ft tall and is built like Ronaldo. He is strong. He can take it."

HARRY REDKNAPP has told gobby Arsenal star Wojciech Szczesny to button it.
Keeper Szczesny enraged Tottenham fans after the 5-2 derby defeat at the Emirates by saying he hated Gunners' North London rivals.
And White Hart Lane boss Redknapp said: "Szczesny does have a lot to say.
"He is a fantastic goalkeeper, but he does come out with a lot of stuff.
"He was having a go at Chelsea the other day and God knows what. I don't like it.
"I don't think there is any need for it. Just get on with playing."
Arsenal have cut the gap to just a point on third-placed Spurs while Chelsea are just four points back in the race for a Champions League spot. But Redknapp insists Tottenham's top target Eden Hazard will not be put off a summer move if the club do miss out on the top four.
And he revealed that chairman Daniel Levy may be ready to nearly DOUBLE the club's transfer record to get the Lille star.
Spurs paid Blackburn £16.9million for David Bentley in 2008, while Lille want £32m for their 21-year-old Belgian playmaker.
Redknapp admitted: "There are others looking at Hazard but our chairman is willing to compete with them.
"If you want to compete with the likes of United and Chelsea at the top of the League, then that is what you have to do.
"And it doesn't mean that top players won't go to Chelsea or Arsenal if they don't make Champions League. They still go there because they are going to a big club in England — and they get the wages they want so they still go."

HARRY REDKNAPP insists he is not worried about Spurs' recent dip in form

Redknapp is bidding to reach his third Wembley FA Cup semi-final in four years when Spurs face Bolton tonight.
But the Tottenham boss — who lifted the Cup with Portsmouth in 2008, then lost to Pompey with Spurs in the semi two years ago — reckons Wembley should only be used for the final itself.
He said: "I think it should only be for the final. But I don't make the rules, so we will take it if we get there.
"It's strange when you are at Wembley but I do remember going there with Portsmouth for the semis and being delighted that we were there.
"It was a great day for the fans and even better when we got to the final. Wembley should be a special day."

Harry Redknapp has indicated that Tottenham are prepared to compete with their big-spending rivals for the signature of coveted playmaker Eden Hazard.
Redknapp has made no secret of his admiration for the 21-year-old Belgian, who has emerged as one of European football's most exciting young talents with a succession of sparkling displays for Lille.
However, Hazard has also attracted the attention of numerous other clubs and Redknapp has previously admitted it could be difficult to beat off competition from the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
Redknapp is nevertheless confident that he will be given the funds by chairman Daniel Levy, who has promised to match his manager's ambition.
"Hazard is a talented player with great ability. He can do special things. He is on our list," said Redknapp of a player who is thought to be rated at £30million.
Compete
"I watched him last year about three times and I have watched him a couple of times this year.
"I wouldn't want to be saying he is the best player in the world because Man City or Chelsea might then decide they have to have him.
"United and one or two others are in for him but I think Daniel is ready to compete with them.
"If you want to be a top-four team you have got to do that. You have got to push on. The chairman is ambitious, we all are."

Harry Redknapp quashes Tottenham slump talk
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has strongly denied suggestions that his link to the England job has contributed to his side's recent downturn in form.
Since Fabio Capello resigned as England boss on 8 February, Spurs have won just one of their five Premier League games.
But Redknapp, favourite for the national team post, said: "Absolute nonsense, that is the biggest load of nonsense I've ever heard in my life.
"The players don't care whether I'm the manager next year."
In their first match after Capello left his position, Tottenham thrashed Newcastle 5-0 to maintain their 10-point lead over fourth-place Arsenal.
But as speculation that Redknapp is set to replace the Italian has increased, Spurs have gone off the boil.
They lost 5-2 at Arsenal, were beaten 3-1 at home by Manchester United, went down 1-0 at Everton and drew 1-1 with Stoke.
In the meantime, Arsenal have won all four of their games to move a point above their north London rivals.
After the Stoke match, Redknapp admitted his side had lost their way but he insists this has nothing to do with the England rumours.
"The players wouldn't lose any sleep over that," he stated. "That's football. Footballers are footballers.
"They play the game, they come in every day and train, somebody else walks in here tomorrow, the king is dead long live the king.
"They don't worry 'Harry's going to England' or 'he's going to go somewhere else'. They don't think about that, I don't think about it.
"It never enters my mind. I don't think what's going to happen to me at the end of the season. Whatever happens to me happens to me.
"I don't lose any sleep over it one way or the other - whether I'm here, somewhere else or nowhere. That's life.
Tottenham face a Chelsea side who are also in the hunt for a top-four finish and find themselves five points behind Redknapp's men.
Spurs have not won at Stamford Bridge since a 2-1 league victory in February 1990.
"It's a big game for us, for sure," Redknapp added. "We've got a lead over Chelsea but we've got to maintain that lead.
"It's going to be tight until the end of the season. The Champions League places are all up for grabs.
"Arsenal have been on an incredible run of winning games and we've struggled to pick up results in the last few weeks.
"There are nine games to go, a lot of points to play for and there will be lots of twists and turns before the end of the season."

He could respond in not such an agitated way but he also reacted that way last week in his post-match interview. This kind of thing easily radiates to players and it's not the kind of thing that is needed at this stage of the season.
And well it's a thread about him, thus I'll post articles about him in it.

"If I said to Benoit (Assou-Ekotto) we have not won at Chelsea for 20 years, he wouldn't have a clue. He probably doesn't even know we are playing Chelsea tomorrow until we tell him later on," Redknapp said.
"He won't look at the fixtures. He will turn up and say: 'what time is the coach tomorrow gaffer?'. And that is it. He will be here, but he won't be sure if we were going to Arsenal or Chelsea.
"All players are like that now, most of them. You still have some throwbacks, still I am sure there are maybe a couple of the lads at Chelsea.
"We have got a lot of foreign players here now and they get on with it. The history of the clubs is probably lost on them in all honesty.
"I was showing a picture of John White on the wall to Rafa (van der Vaart) the other day.
"I was telling him he was an amazing footballer that got struck by lightning but he didn't know.
"I come from the East End, we knew about the Arsenals, the Chelseas - we knew all the players.
"I don't think they do that now, not so much. And certainly the foreign players, they are not going to know.
"I think it's a disadvantage. If I asked Frank Lampard he would tell you all about players. He has been brought up with it. His dad would talk about Bobby (Moore) and all them players. It's rarer now I think."

Redknapp: We'll trump Gunners
Harry Redknapp still thinks Tottenham will finish above Arsenal this season - but says failing to finish in the top four would be a "big blow".
Saturday saw Spurs boss Redknapp watch his side take a crucial step towards finishing in the top four by drawing 0-0 at Chelsea, maintaining the five-point gap to their fifth-placed opponents.
However, the result was not enough to prevent them slipping further adrift of the resurgent Gunners, who racked up a seventh successive league win to turn what had threatened to be a 13-point deficit to their arch-rivals during last month's north London derby, into a three-point lead.
Tottenham have now gone five league matches without a victory, but their Stamford Bridge performance suggested that blip was about to end during a run-in that looks easier than that of their arch-rivals, who have Manchester City and Chelsea still to play.
Redknapp scoffed at suggestions third place may be beyond his side, saying: "No, it's not out of reach, of course not.
"I still think we'll finish above Arsenal - bring it on, Arsene!"
Wenger's Arsenal have never finished below Tottenham, who last ruled the roost in the capital in 1995.
They looked certain to do so a month ago but Spurs' mini-slump began to cast doubt on whether they would even secure a top-four spot.
"The position we were in a month ago, we looked nailed on, didn't we?" Redknapp said.
"It would be a bigger blow if we don't make it, that's for sure. That would knock me for six."
It really is now theirs to lose, with Chelsea facing an even tougher run-in than Arsenal, as well as a nightmare schedule that includes a Champions League quarter-final.
Redknapp admitted it would suit Spurs for the Blues to reach the semi-finals, saying: "Of course - we want them to go through.
"I think they'll beat Benfica over two games, although I think it'll be a tough game away first leg, and then obviously Barcelona in the semi-final.
"We're all hoping for that because we all want to come here (Stamford Bridge) and watch it - I certainly do."
Saturday's point was therefore arguably their most crucial of the season and Redknapp insisted that it would still be an achievement just to qualify for the Champions League.
Indeed, the 65-year-old suggested that was an even tougher task this year than when he led them into the competition in 2010.
He said: "Man City are now established as a certainty, Man United are a certainty, Arsenal have been there every year, Chelsea, Liverpool are going to get stronger.
"You'd have thought if you can make it this year, it's going to be even harder."
He added: "I enjoyed it last year. It was new to me, it wasn't something that I've had.
"It's not been part of my life any more than it's been part of Tottenham's life.
"They've not been used to Champions League, so it wasn't suddenly: 'Oh my God, we've not got Champions League'."
With Redknapp favourite to become the next England manager, it may prove his only taste of the competition and he had a warning for whoever was in charge at White Hart Lane next season.
"If you want to do it again, you've got to improve," he said.
"These top teams are going to keep improving.
"Chelsea are not going to stand still. They are going to go out and improve their team because the owner does that.
"Man City are going to improve, Man United, Arsenal are already making plans to bring new players in, Liverpool. It's getting tougher.
"There are six teams, really.
"That six are going to be there unless somebody buys one of the clubs.
"If they can get a Russian owner to buy Wigan who's got billions then they could win the league, couldn't they?
"That's how silly the game is."
Finally soem boosting words from the camp. The players, and Harry seem a little upbeat after a good perfromance at Chelsea, and the injury time Rafa goal v Stoke.
I dont know what to make of the rest of the season, but as long as the players and manager is up for it, then that gives us all a reason to get right behind them. This is going to be the most tense run in for years....even more than our battles with City in my opinion.

Harry Redknapp has hit back at critics who say his Tottenham side have blown their chance of having a successful season.
A run of just one win in eight Premier League games has seen them replaced in third by North London rivals Arsenal and in danger of being dumped out of the Champions League places altogether by a rampant Newcastle side who have won their last five.
But Redknapp called for cool heads amongst the fans as they are just one game away from an FA Cup final and are in the frame for continental football next season - a position he feels many would also have taken at the start of the season.
"People forget where Tottenham should be at times," Redknapp said. "They have won two Carling Cups since 1991, the average finishing position until four or five years ago was probably about 10th - our form is fantastic.
"We had a bad performance against Norwich, but other than that we played very well and just didn't get the results.
"We were in a fantastic position and ended up losing points and Arsenal have been on a great run and picked up win after win and that's what has changed.
"If we'd come from nowhere and suddenly moved into fourth, we'd all be going, 'great'. But I'd have taken this position at the start of the year for sure."

Basically we shouldn't be concerned with the terrible form because we're punching well above our weight. Really is an absurd thing to come out with. Surprised the droopy faced qunt didn't come out with the 2 from 8 line aswell.
Well he is trying to do himself favours. But he's not playing to the Tottenham fans, he's playing to the media and his potential new employers. As usual he is trying to protect his reputation and insulate himself from everything going tits up here. This is the start of his campaign to convince them that he's done some type of miracle job with a 'mid table side'.
http://www.glory-glory.co.uk/showthread.php?1216-Harry-Redknapp-has-done-us-over/page22 Post #434 onwards.
Hard to disagree.
It's things like this that make me doubt whether he would actually take the England job. Sure he could say something like "England have barely done anything of note since 1996" and that would be true but if he was to do that after it went tits up, the media would not accept it as a valid reasoning and tear in to him. Then again, with the money he'd get from it, why would he care?

1) Harry gone to England.
2) Modric probably leaving
3) Bale attracting vultures to pick at the rotting Spurs caucass
4) Ledley King (31), verge of retiring
5) Brad Friedel (40) maybe retiring
6) Carlo Cudicini (36) maybe retiring
7) Gallas (34), Nelsen (34), Parker (31), all retiring/nearly retiring/past it
8 ) Adebayor the only semi decent striker at the club returning to his parent club
9) Defoe leaving due to lack of playing time
10) trying to fund a new stadium
so they need to:
-attract a top class manager.
-quite possibly need to buy at least 1 top quality goalkeeper
-need possibly 2 top quality centre backs
-need to buy a top quality striker
-possibly buy a replacement for modric
-buy serious backup or competition for places for the likes of Lennon
we joke that redknapp fucks up every club he's been too but it may actually happen to spurs.
he's bought a lot of old players in because he wants short term success, and a majority of these are on big wages. with no 4th spot guaranteed their finances could be in a mess. it will be a summer of upheaval and instability for sure. they have no system to fall back on.
my only worry is if levy gets a top class international manager in like klopp, loew or rijkaard. he's no fool and knows whats best for the club.

:haha:

Not sure I agree. Fuckups of clubs after he leaves appear to be the way their boards/owners fucked up the finances. That is their responsibility. If a manager asks to buy a player and the board think it would bust the club, it is their duty to turn down the request. But what has happened to the clubs he has been at:-
West Ham sack him and he goes to Portsmouth. Result: West Ham get relegated at the end of the season while Portsmouth get promoted, have several seasons in the PL and win the FA Cup.
Tottenham buy him. Result: Portsmouth go down the toilet. Tottenham mount their most serious challenge in top flight since the 1960s.
England manager resigns, big speculation that 'arry will take over (no surprise as historically he has always indicated he would like the job): Result: Tottenham begin to choke.
The choking of the spud challenge (great, of course) is not because of 'arry but, like chavs under AVB, once the dressing room know that a manager is not going to be staying, the drive falls away.
'arry might be a bit of a barrow boy, he might be managing the enemy, but that does not make him a bad manager. I'll get the usual shit for this post,of course, but all I can say is that as soon as 'arry was appointed Tottenham manager I said at the time that it was the greatest threat to our North London domination for decades. And I was right. If Capello had not stepped down as England manager and had looked like he would be staying longer, I have a feeling that we would not be laughing at spuds now.
People should not let their dislike of an enemy blind themselves to the danger they might pose.

Arry uses the chequebook to buy short term and unsustainable success. He's adept at finding the exit before the shit hits the fan. Then it's a new chequebook and the myth lives on. This is his track record, not some jaundiced view based on hatred. He's certainly the dodgiest manager in football, his whole philosophy seems to be focused on creating huge transfer churn and ensuring he has a financial interest in the wheeler-dealing. Basically he's like a leech or a vampire, sucking the life out of a club and abandoning the corpse just before the cops arrive.

Redknapp has never been touted by any of the really big clubs because he's not at that level. He's decent enough but nothing special or the big guns would have come knocking. He probably is one of the best options for England but only because there are lamentably few other viable options.
He will fail as England manager because he won't be able to wheel and deal and the players aren't up to it (which isn't his fault).

I'm not sure anyone has said he's useless. I certainly don't think that. But the media fawning over him is ridiculous. He's nothing special. He's done OK at Spurs because he inherited a good squad which was massively under-performing and got them playing as a squad of that ability should. He's deserves some credit for that but he's hardly worked miracles, he's just got a squad of that quality where they should be.

i agree with you on that.
redknapps approach is very much a 'get on the pitch and run around, shoot and put the ball in the back of the net'.
thats completely fine at the lower level cause all you need is good management skills to motivate players and get a team to play properly. at the very top/elite that isnt enough. you need to be tactically astute, something he isnt. i remember when pavlychenko came on a couple of times and scored winning goals during the space of a month, media hailed harry for turning his career around. a reporter asked him 'what did you tell him to do' and harry replied 'i told him to run around and shoot'. the media made him a fuckin guru and thought it was genius.
well it really wasnt
fact is, when its come to the cream of the crop e.g. against us, against united and so on, he's fallen short. there's a reason why teams dont play 4-4-2 anymore but he insisted with it recently and fucked up majorly. he didnt play lennon either during the past month when it was clear they needed pace. even playing modric on the right instead?!
point im making is his tactically inept and at the very top you need to be tactically astute. if he ever took hold of man utd they'd fade away quickly, hence why no top club has taken a punt on him.

Vedran Corluka believes Harry Redknapp has been guilty of not rotating his squad enough this season and would not be surprised to see Tottenham finish sixth in the Premier League.
Spurs enjoyed a stunning start to the campaign as they managed to keep pace with Manchester City and Manchester United, and at the very least looked set to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
However, despite at one stage being 12 points clear of third-placed Arsenal, Tottenham are now fifth in the table following a dismal run of one win in their last nine matches.
Redknapp maintains that a top-four finish should be viewed as an extraordinary achievement, rather than something which should be expected of the North London club.
Corluka disagrees, though, and says it must be regarded as a disappointing season for Spurs if they miss out on a return to the Champions League.
"Tottenham, for me, had one of the best teams in England and of course it will be an unsuccessful season if they don't go to the Champions League," said the Croatian, who is on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.
"I don't know what the chairman will do if they don't qualify. I know only that it will be an unsuccessful season.
"Three months before they were in the title race challenging City and United.
"Now they are three points behind fourth spot. They are fifth and it's going to be really difficult for them."
No depthCorluka thinks the main reason behind Spurs' collapse has been the fatigue of their star players after Redknapp's refusal to rotate.
The idea worked towards the end of 2011, when Spurs went on an unbeaten 11-match run, but the run of consecutive games has left the likes of Scott Parker, Kyle Walker and Benoit Assou-Ekotto looking tired of late.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they finished sixth," Corluka said.
"They didn't rotate enough. They don't have depth on the bench.
"That's the main problem. I watched almost every Spurs game and they played them all with the same 11, 12, 13 players and that's why the players now are really tired."

Gareth Bale uncertain over Tottenham future
Gareth Bale admits he will consider his future at Tottenham if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.
The left-sided midfielder told BBC's Football Focus: "If we don't [qualify for the Champions League], I have to discuss what's best for myself."
More to follow.

The best thing about signing British players is their loyalty to their Clubs.

Excellent. We need more of that to help further undermine their loss of form.

<_<
I never said it was loyalty. I said they were too thick to go abroad which limits their options. Lets wait to see if he actually does go. I don't think he will. Rooney said he wanted to go - turned out he just wanted money.
But the timing of this statement is really stupid. Van Persie might be thinking the same thing - 'lets see if Arsenal can finish 3rd...if we don't get CL football, I need to go', but he'd be stupid to say it with 3 matches to go and all to play for. Bale's inviting speculation and unwanted attention for the club and Tottenham will probably be very pissed off about it. Which is quite funny.

Harry Redknapp has revealed he is unsure whether Luka Modric will still be at Tottenham Hotspur next season, but does not expect Gareth Bale to leave.
Modric was a target for Chelsea throughout last summer and Spurs rejected three bids from their London rivals for the Croatia international.
A new contract for the midfielder has yet to be agreed and speculation has resurfaced that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City will bid for Modric again at the end of the season.
Team-mate Bale's future has also come in for scrutiny after the winger suggested he would hold talks with Spurs if the club failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Redknapp is confident that the Wales international, and reported Barcelona target, will not be moving on, but is less certain about the future of Modric.
Vital
"Last summer it was vital that we kept hold of Luka," Redknapp said.
"I don't think we will have to do it with people like Gareth Bale this summer.
"Luka, it's different with him. I don't know what he would do. I would be lying if I said I was sure that he would stay. You don't know.
"But certainly I wouldn't see Gareth Bale wanting to leave here.
"At the moment he is happy here, a big fish here. He is still learning the game, a young boy, and this is where he needs to be.
"You would like to think Luka would still be here, but you never know."

Its got to the point where i don't even appreciate him for what he has achieved at tottenham because of all this stress and pressure he has put on the team and the fans. He is a complete and utter joke. Get out of our club Harry. (Harry the pensioner signer)

Arry is back in the swing: "Tottenham must be bold in transfer market - Harry Redknapp"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17980667
Reckons he's relieved he didn't get the England job and it was the court case that exposed him as a shit manager caused the downturn in the spuds season. But it can be rescued, no big pay day from a stint with England? No problem, a few backhanders from a summer of wheerler dealing should stuff the bank accounts. Dodgy geezer indeed.

Bale said something similar. Modric perhaps on his way out. That's what you need heading into the last game, isn't it? Your best players saying they'll leave.
We might not need to order them any lasagne at this rate.

He is shit anyway i doubt that would be a loss. Spud fans want him gone regardless.
But its funny to see Spurs players wanting to leave even the big ones.
Puts an end to all the "there is something big happening at spurs" crap we seem to be hearing.

"Everything is possible," he told France Football. "When I met the chairman last January he told me that, if a club bigger than Tottenham came in for me, he wouldn't necessarily be against my departure.
"If there is a change at Tottenham - some more money is made available - I wouldn't be against the idea of staying, but otherwise I'll try to move forwards, as I did when I left Lens.
"All players want to play in the Champions League. A few months ago, I said I never wanted to play in the Europa League because that competition is useless.
"I have a gentleman's agreement with the chairman. As he is a man of his word, I hope that will make things easier if a great club comes in."

This seems only slightly less laughable than Denilson's threat to leave. I doubt Spurs will be too bothered. How many 'gentlemen's agreements' does Daniel Levy have though?
