That would be the best wouldnt it and its more or less the case in indycar where all the cars are basically the same and the engines even have a power limit so no one has a powerplant advantage. There is so little else a team can change that is why a new driver wins every week. Indycar is damn boring though. Nothing but driving in circles and slipstreaming on the straights.

As far as Hamilton is concerned. As a black man myself I have a lot of sympathy and admiration for his achievements but not for him as a person. I like sportsmen who relish competition and Lewis does not appeal to me. He is a dedicated athlete and extremely good driver and I was kind of ambivalent towards him because I dont support anyone simply because of their skin colour but now am totally neutral because of his shenanigans when Rosberg was about to win the title in 2016 (i think) and he proceeded to slow walk the race in the hope that someone would help him defeat his own teammate.

He will go down in history just like Schuey did. The best of his generation. His time inevitably is coming to an end just as he took over in the late 00`s.

He is not as good as he thinks he is though. Nigel Mansell is my favourite driver....the flying moustache. The best thing to come out of Birmingham. He needs a knighthood. C`mon Maam...just do it.

Verstappens time has come and so for some others. There are a least 3 young drivers out there now who would be beating Lewis in the same car if Mercedes would let it happen. I dont see that happening unless this season is a complete wreck for them and they need a new no1 driver for 2025. Bottas may be on his way out.

Fabulous driver who proved it driving cars further down the grid, something Hamilton has never had to do. But then the Ferrari dominance set in so it didn't really matter if he was a great driver or not, such was the advantage of the car - which Hamilton has ALWAYS enjoyed.

It's just cynical tactics by Mercedes on this occasion. Even though he's not a competitive driver, Bottas is still an F1 driver. The technicalities I was referring to related to the car, not the regulations. Hamilton has always had a technical advantage when he's on the track. He's never tested himself beyond that advantage. Watching Alonso yesterday gave a clear demonstration of the difference between great and good. Imagine if Alonso had been sat in Hamilton's car and vice versa?

Hamilton also does his own fair bit of shenanigan's but lets not dwell on that. Even the greatest ones, Schuey, Senna et al were not beyond sly games. The only thing thats grating is when he wins all of you fans get all het up with the buntings. Are you F1 fans or Hamilton fans?. Yesterday should all have been about Ocon doing a fantastic job instead its " Yippeee! Hamilton came from the back and almost won again, isnt he fantastic?". He isnt actually pumping a pedal car you know. I remember him whining like a bitch when Vettel was winning all those back to back titles. Seriously? This is what you come up with after the last 2 races where Mercedes have closed the first gap to appear in years by taking their competition out rather than racing them? Again I'll say, stick Alonso in Hamilton's car and put Hamilton is an Alpine and see what you get. Regardless, they finished on the same points in that season as I recall, with probably the last genuine underdog brilliantly winning the title. And even then Hamilton bitched his way through the whole season and pissed mostly everyone off. He's just a shit of a person and always has been.

I’m not sure you can call Ferrari “genuine underdogs” in 2007 given they were up against a rookie in his first season with an experienced driver in Kimi Raikennon. They’d also been competing for title in previous few years.

Yes Raikennon drove brilliantly to win the title but rode his luck a little. If Hamilton had been pitted one lap earlier in china, he wins the title but small margins decide tight title races.

Also yes Alonso & Hamilton finished on same points but Hamilton came second, presumably because he won more races or had more podiums. Not sure how F1 breaks it down but similar to goal difference in football, there are ways of seperating drivers so yes, Hamilton did beat Alonso.
