Not a terrible performance, however, so predictable that we would lose. Our defence looks as shaky as ever and we always look likely to concede.
Partey, Elneny, Odegaard, Auba are terrible.
Tavares likes to give the ball away too much and cannot cross the ball.
The plusses, Martinelli, ESR, Tommy.
Arteta undone by a bigger Rookie than himself.

Kind of predictable. I thought the best we could hope for was a draw and I was proven right unfortunately. I thought we started the game well and were the better team for the first half hour, then we resorted into conceeding posession and inviting pressure, we aren't good enough to do this against half decent teams, I don't know why we do it!

Second half was messy and a bit chaotic...how I thought it was going to be from the off.

I am not angry, just resigned to the fact we haven't really made a lot of obvious progress. If anything i see clear flaws in the team now that weren't so evident last season, it's likely because we have a manager who isn't good enough, I dunno.

We need to freshen things up for Monday against Everton but I see a loss there too now...they have some half decent players and will want to get back to winning ways so it's written in the stars.

One thing I will say is that we didn't fall apart at 3-2, we did keep going and tried to get something. But we do struggle to create clear chances and Auba increasingly fluffs his lines. It wasn't a disaster of a performance but it was a chance to get a result to make a statement and move in to the top 4 so of course we lost. The key thing, like after the Liverpool game, is how we react. Everton are there for the taking but we are notoriously generous in such situations.
Still Arteta In for me, but I want to see how we do in the next month where we have some banana skins. I still think that after the top 3 we are as good as anyone, but I'm not sure what progress there has been, if any

Also bringing on Eddie when he rejected a contract was weird. Bit of insult to Pepe who while being unpredictable is a lot more capable of making something happen.

It's about the race driven political statement made at the start of the first match (half match) I have watched in months. It definitely made me have a reaction and this is the match reaction thread. Watching, literally, a group of all races, colours and creeds kneel before Lord Woke to condemn racism from the least racist country on the planet that has changed it's culture, language, laws and habits to a ridiculous degree in abject appeasement? Everyone should react to that appalling accusation.

As for the half match itself, that kind of faded into the background and burred away, like the insidious political messaging probably does for people who see it twice a week.

Absolutely no way we can get 4th. United will get the results they need now under prober management. Spuds will continue to win ugly and West Ham as we have seen can get a result against top 5 which we simply cannot. Arteta couldnt coach a Terrier to fetch a stick. But just because it has got better that doesn't mean the problem has solved and nothing more needs doing. I don't think players continuing to highlight that does much harm. But it would be nice if they could kick a football too of course.

Letters this isn’t aimed at you, but speaking as a man of colour it really is quite galling when people who aren’t in the position of me or other BME people comment on racist issues telling us everything is fine now. I can only speak from experience, from having had to deal with daily experiences of racism from the Police and on occasion people in the public.

The main gist behind taking the knee in football hasn’t been dreamt up out of nowhere, many BME players have been racially abused in games and on social media over the past few years, it’s a big problem and need stamping out. If taking the knee is one way of expressing the dissatisfaction then so be it. Honestly it is not nice being abused racially or prejudiced merely because you have different colour skin!

I have an issue with NQ’s views because not only are they ignorant, but he talks as if he understands what a BME goes through, he has no fuckin idea and it’s ignorant of him to assume otherwise.

It's a political statement, not some altruistic endeavour. And if you don't believe that then you might recall all four corners of the Emirates decked out in BLM banners for months, even after BLM was throughly discredited. Anyone remember Viv Anderson? Compare the game now to the game then. But the message is, it's never enough. No good deed will go unpunished and every apology signifies new guilt. It's divisive and it's insidious and it's entirely unnecessary in a sport that has many, many bigger problems. When will the players be taking a knee to protest Qatar, I wonder? Or will they reluctantly be gouging each other's eyes out for a seat on the plane?

It's difficult to keep track of all the rules. Not being white myself I sometimes think I have certain privileges which maybe I don't after all.

I forgot that some people can use certain words liberally but others can't. Sometimes the word is funny, sometimes it is super cool but other times it is bad, full stop and regardless of intent. It's difficult to keep track of all the rules. Not being white myself I sometimes think I have certain privileges which maybe I don't after all.

If you genuinely believe I used those words to express some form of racial superiority over a group of people well I can see why that would offend. Fortunately that's not the case.
