Is that a prediction? Wouldn't mind that line up.

Probably a reasonably safe prediction given how many players we have out injured

Yeah the line up kind of picks itself given the amount of key players out.

Only debate was whether to go full pub team with Cedric instead of Tomi/Kiwior.

Vieira/Havertz was a question as well but I’d rather the German be given the opportunity to find some form.

Cedric is doing an Ozil, simply hanging around because he doesn’t want to lose the ridiculously generous wages he’s on. I doubt there’s any chance he gets game time unless injuries get really, really bad

Jorginho and Elneny won’t give our defence much protection against pace but they offer variety with Elneny in the holding role and Jorginho using his passing to get the attacking players in the game.

Nelson and Smith Rowe deserve more game time than they are currently getting

This should def. be about giving under-used players minutes, nothing else

Yep that’s usually what the league cup has been about historically

There’s an argument for playing more first teamers in the business end of the tournament (though mainly only if we have nothing else going on for us in terms of trophy hunts)

But third round? I want to win, but I’ll sleep just as soundly if we get slaughtered.

Starting XI: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Kiwior, Jorginho, Havertz, Smith Rowe, Nelson, Sagoe Jr, Nketiah.

Subs: Hein, Cedric, Sweet, Walters, Zinchenko, Elneny, Odegaard, Cozier-Duberry, Jesus.

I thought Sanogo was back for a split second.

Be intradesting to see who plays more advanced out of Havertz and ESR. I'd assume Havertz plays the CM position just to build familiarity with it but fuck know with Arteta.

Who is Sagoe and how long has his son been playing for us?

I dunno, I’m always interested in whether a player is a potential future star or just a footnote in our history.

And that he’s called Jnr warranted a corny dad joke….about his dad

Then again games like these can be false dawns. I can’t be the only one who thought Pennant had “arrived” when he scored that hat trick against Southampton twenty years ago

Turns out the only place he arrived was prison after refusing to arrive by public transport after a driving ban

Witty Twitter exchange I came across

Chelsea fan mocking Arsenal fans over Havertz (I mean really?) - So much for you guys saying you’d signed our best player

Arsenal fan in response: He was your best player, it’s illustrative of how shit you are

Half time and it's 8 goals in 9 games - and 4 of those are in the same game

Hopefully a straight forward tie in the next round.
