As people will recall, I posted a running comparison between the points totals for 2010/11 and the 4 previous seasons for Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs, with Man City, Everton and Aston Villa (but the last two are not posted here) for one season. Below is the final result. What is really interesting is that only team, Man City, did better than last season, and all of the traditional top four had the worst or equal worst season of the last five!!!!!!!!!

Note: I will start afresh next season.

Here are my initial thoughts and questions: Discuss.

--Aside from Man City and Man U, fans of all the clubs can complain about the "performances".

Stepping back from the Arsenal focus, there have to be two questions asked:

--First, was this the top teams faltering or the bottom teams doing better?

--Second, was this a one-off season or will this continue?

I'd say it's likely to be a one off season for United and Chelsea in terms of points gained. For us however it represents the bracket we've been finishing in for many years with the exception of 07/08.

Our entire first half of the season was a bad performance. It's a miracle we got anywhere near last years' total, and that says something.
