Perhaps Wenger does understand what a sense of urgency is after all!

Nah, he understands that Dann will be £6mill whereas a step up to what we actually need costs £17mill. He's just fucking us again.
Scott fucking Dann!!!??
You're having a laugh!!
What are you making a thread about Scott Dann? Terry Tuffnutz says not to believe the press! ;)

Hand on heart sitting here right now? I would say he is better than Squid Kos and Djourou
He is also 6'3 and can head the ball!

I dont know who that is
This summer will win Wenger the WUM of the Decade award, which is the trophy he's always been after.

Nobody really knows who he is, he plays for Birmingham and is cheap. That's about all.

Dann could be another smokescreen, used to force down the price of Merde-sack. I'll be very disappointed in Wenger if we don't end up with the worst option.
I dont know who that is
Just a mischievous reference to an exchange I'm having with Terry on another thread. My view on Dann is that once again, we are looking for the cheapest option, rather than the most effective one. I think the manager is obsessed to bargain hunting - unless of course its for a teenanger - and that this will be to the detriment of our team. And I think its depressing that we are by all accounts competing with the likes of Sunderland and Stoke City for the player.

I just cant believe that this is the same club that went through 49 games unbeaten in the PL! Where did we change our course and head towards becoming a Stoke, Villa, Fulham?!

Damn, our price minus £2mill tactic isn't going to work then. Scrub that option. Surely there's some unknown French kid out there, someone who can't defend, has no bottle and makes critical mistakes at key moments in big matches? That would be ideal because he could hit the ground running, no bedding in period required.
Christmas at Wenger's house must be sh*te, you're expecting an Iphone 4 and he buys you an Airphone 4.

You mean solid clubs with committed players who give their all? It seems like we could do with some of the qualities that the lower sides have, if they had our talented midfield and forwards those teams would be challenging for honours without a doubt.

That's why we need the likes of Parker. We're not looking to win the league any more, we're just trying to stop the rot.

Tbf the rot is not winning the league so they're pretty well connected.

I think they used to be connected, but we've slipped even more. Wenger has said it himself, top 4 is the ambition of this club. I think with the squad as it stands, coupled with Wenger's methods, we are overreaching. Just a solid season, regardless of where we finished, where we stopped with the stupid mistakes, played solid at the back, started moving the ball purposefully and added a bit of entertainment back into our game - that would be a positive step.

People should be hoping this signing comes off as we sure as hell won't bother with an alternative because "we have enough in those areas and Song can also play there"
Darth Vela
11-08-2011, 03:09 PM
Fair enough, that makes sense. I'm pretty sure the extent of our ambition isn't just getting top 4 but if it gets us back to actually being able to win something I could take that 'solid' season, especially as I'm pretty sure we'll still be good enough to keep our CL spot.

We should know by now Wenger's definition of super quality is not the same as ours.
You show him Karim Benzema and he will show you Benik Afobe.

Leave Afobe alone, you bastard.

11-08-2011, 03:52 PM
I'm disappointed by default, because I don't know shit about this chump.
Thing is, he might not actually be shit.
I think I might have been critical before that chimps like Jagielka, Samba or Hangelaand weren't indentified early and taken a chance on, while they were still relatively cheap and unregarded.
Those kinds of signings look foresighted in hindsight.
Equally Dann could turn out to be an ill-considered cheap-ass option. But at this stage, how can you tell either way?

No, I mean, just being happy to be in the PL! I fear once we drop out of the drop 4 and I can assure you it will happen sometime very soon unless AW changes his ways or is sacked, we will be in free fall! I can see us becoming the Aston Villas, Evertons, Fulhams etc who just battle to stay in the PL. Thats my opinion and I am usually right about things like these..

I sometimes get the impression Arsene goes for the cheap option to prove a point that he doesn't need to spend BIG to improve the squad. I've no idea why we're after Dann.

11-08-2011, 04:25 PM
Well he can't be any worse than Squillacci can he? Surely that's not humanly possible.
So therefore it's a good signing.
Let's face it, Wenger has been shit for years so why are we surprised he's once again fucking up in the transfer market and going for the cheaper shittier version of what we need?
We should know by now Wenger's definition of super quality is not the same as ours.
No - super quality is a euphemism for cheap.

I doubt we will sign 2 CB's. If we sign Dann then we will have 5 CB's in the first team set up which is unnecessary. Squid needs to be sold ASAP, waste of wage money.

Steve Kean insists Blackburn are yet to receive an offer for highly-rated centre-half Chris Samba.
Arsenal (http://topics.skysports.com/arsenal/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif and Tottenham have been heavily linked with the commanding defender, but both North London giants are yet to make a move.
Kean (http://topics.skysports.com/Steve+Kean/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif is hoping that remains the case, as Rovers have no intention of sanctioning a sale.
They have already offloaded Phil Jones (http://topics.skysports.com/Phil+Jones/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif to Manchester United (http://topics.skysports.com/Manchester+United/?section=football)http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif this summer and are reluctant to part with another important member of their defensive unit.
Kean said: "Chris is only a few months into a five-year contract. There have been rumours every single week but we have not had any bids at all, not one, and long may that continue.
Difficult"We know it's life without Phil, and if you lose somebody at the last minute it can be very difficult.
"We hope that won't happen, we hope that's the only centre-half we have lost this season and that the phone doesn't ring and that Chris is happy with us."
Kean also said that talks over a new deal with Zimbabwe striker Benjani, who is out of contract, were 'not dead' yet.
He added: "We made him a contract offer that was not adequate for what he was after. There has been a little bit of movement on both sides so it's not dead yet."

Selling Nasri and Cesc would seem to have ignited that hope we'd seen at the beginning of the summer, let's not forget this is Wenger we are talking about though, the guy who treats spending in the transfer market like a deadly disease.

Well its not just Wenger is it, did he force Ivan to Spout the shite he spouts or PHW. The problem is the way the club is run.
I we have let this Situtation run for both players, why they have still cost us over 2 mill on wages in the summer. When that 2 mill could have been used as part of a deal for a new player.
All this stems from the top.
Hope most of you have seen this so you don't get your hopes up:

He's sorta right we do sorta have four, 2 are crocks, the other 2 are sh*t.
We could lose half the 1st team and he'd still be spouting out the line about "we'll add one maximum 2 more" and "we will only sign players who are of super quality".
It's clear the man doesn't mind looking like a fool.

There's more on Dann in tomorrows rags. I wonder if he'll play at the weekend for Brum?
Hoping this comes off, I know he's not at the top of all our lists but I just want to see the squad freshened up with some proper and hungry players.

As i said countless times, we were always going to buy a CB but we all knew it would be someone shite and wouldn't help us much if at all ala Toto or Kozza. The only question was who would this shite ass CB be and now we know.Wenger out
