Companies and celebrities are being given the chance to protect their names from porn hijacking ahead of the launch of the .xxx web domain.

From today, brands can request to have their name blocked from use with the new suffix, which goes live next year.

Existing adult entertainment sites can also submit their application to reserve a spot on .xxx

The "red light" suffix is intended to make it easier to find or avoid sexually explicit material online


that's good, cos till now it's been pretty much impossible to find porn on t'interweb.

It's absolutely disgusting that anyone should want to be involved with this in any way. Porn is evil, it's degrading to women and generally drags our culture down into the gutter. Fortunately it's only a very few sick individuals who look at porn but that could change now it is getting its own domain suffix. There will also be many more rapists this time next year, once these changes occur.

Why the need for a separate xxx domain? Those who don't want to see porn will still get it thrust in their faces appearing on non-xxx sites. Those who do want porn can already get it. It beats me off why we need the category at all.
