Just complained to Metro/First


I use the farcically named “every ten minutes or less” 16 service daily to get to and from work and have had many positive experiences along with sadly some very downbeat ones, one of the latter happened this past Monday.

The bus arrived and a lady was at the stop asking people for directions, I stopped to help this lady and advised she would need the 16, by this time most of the queue had boarded the vehicle, the driver then looking straight at me closed the doors. This of course led to aforementioned lady and I knocking on the door. The driver, after a lot of swearing and hesitation then opened the doors, rolled his eyes and tapped his watch in an “I haven’t got all day” manner, which is ironic really as the bus was 10 minutes late. When the lady then asked him to confirm she needed this service his response of anger and “for f*cks sake” was somewhat inappropriate in my opinion, certainly the lady was taken aback. We then had the displeasure of this man, this very angry and apparently in a rush man (which could be witnessed by his somewhat dicey driving) all the way to our destinations, he then accentuated his point by closing the doors as quickly as he could, nearly taking the heel from my boots in the process and speeding away.

Now while I despondently don’t have the knowledge of your in-house customer service policies or indeed your necessity for technical driving ability I feel pretty sure that neither were met by this man. I also admit to not being fully informed on social etiquette of bus drivers but I should think that using profanity towards passengers, tapping your watch while elderly ladies ask for help and driving roughly 2 steps short of lunacy are not high on the standard list.

It’s simply not good enough.

Its something I dont miss - can remember when I was last back, not knowing that WHS charges 1p for a bag, I actually asked for one afyer putting my the change in the charity next to the till.
This I told to the cashier after she asked me for a penny, having only a tenner I thought she would look kindly on me.
