A decent cup of tea, probably.
That was no problem in Dubai. In Rome...after looking in loads of places we finally managed to find somewhere round the corner from our hotel which did decent tea. And I managed to ply MrsL with tea and ice-cream for long enough on the Saturday to watch the CL Final there. Huzzah!
Trips were very nice thanks, LDG. Dubai was way too hot though and I won't be hurrying back. Rome is beautiful but I feel I've done it now. Was impressed with Athens, only had the day there but looks like a nice place. Was interesting seeing Mount Etna in Sicily. Went to a nice beach in Crete, saw all the historical stuff in Ephesus. The ship was very impressive.
All in all, job's a good-un.

They'll taste a bit dry, if they're freezer burnt, but they should taste reasonably good.
Depends whether that is enough to persuade you to put up with the prolonged spells of vomitting a diarrhea that the food poisoning will bring.
If it was a little warmer it might be pleasant to walk to work in the gentle light rain, but it's not, so it isn't, so it can just fuck off.

Got a part-time job at my local sainsbury ( a smaller local store , so hopefully not alot of moving about I hope ) for around 5 months before I go back to uni to get a bit of money built up, at around £7 an hour, only problem is that its a night shift. Anyone ever done one before / any pointers on how to adjust to it ?
My days are Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday , 11-7
Make sure you get black-out curtains, you might need ear plugs if you live in a noisy house or neighbourhood, get used to having less sleep too, if you can have your meals in the right order, breakfast when you get up and a meal when you get home and prepare, for a while, to live the life of the damned :)

Just got back home after my first day at instore hours, first things first the manager is a total ****. Thankfully he's not there whilst I work.
They also are choosing my shift days for the first 4 weeks , and say I have to take the days given or they can get rid of me in 4 weeks, so now I have to go on Friday and Saturday. Surely they can't do that ? And I done the work for 2 hours today, and my back kept aching when lifting the heavy shit. Hoping I don't have to do as many heavy things/low shelf items tomorrow, as I have to be in for my full shift :sulk:
Bollocks to it, I'm looking for something else in the meantime.

Yes they can dump you anytime up to a year.
Did they do manual handling training, your back shouldn't hurt when lifting (back damage is cumulative)

Well its not necessarily the lifting, its the bending down loads of times to reach the really low shelves. I'm considering using a stool to sit on next time. If I can manage to adapt to it, then it'll be fine as a way to make some good money as there is alot of extra work in the store, and I'm doing nothing pretty much till October anyway (some person done 50 hours when his contract only had him at 16 a week)

Health and safety rules mean you have to be taught safe manual handling I believe. At least that's what we are taught in theatre , Amy new staff must be taught how to lift properly etc
So ask your bosses, they should do it and talk you through it. But I have problems with my back. I've learnt to keep my back straight as much as possible, bend with knees straight up amd it reduces pain/stiffness by a huge amount

Done my first night shift , and oh boy, I'm giving myself a couple of hours to think it over, but I'm likely leaving this **** place. Might call the store and just say I'm not coming in for my shift again tonight (can't deal with them forcing my shifts on which days right now).
The manager was different yes, but it was a big black african who kept on marching orders (which I'm fine with), but the way he said 'you've done nothing your whole time here' after I spent like 6 hours working my arse off in the store pissed me off, kept swearing at another guy. I then ask him where to put some items that had broken seals (its my first actual day), and he says, '****ing hell, put it on my head' What a ****ing scrote, and the other manager is a **** aswell . The environment there is toxic.
I know its a job, but its making me miserable already after one day. Doesn't seem worth the effort. It's also physically very demanding, more so than I imagined.

Man, I feel your pain.
I had occaisonal Christmas work in a Supermarket for a few years from when I was 17. While most of the managers were alright, there were some real scrotes who were amongst the most obnoxious people I have ever met. One in particular was the worst and even all these years later, I hope he dies a slow and lingering death.
The warning signs were there early on. When I went down to enquire about vacancies he told me to come back at 4. I got there at 3:45. The fucker kept me waiting until nearly 5 and then asked me what time I called this when he told me to come back at 4. When I told him I was there over an hour, he just moved on abruptly and told me I started Monday at 4. I told him school wasn't out until 3:40 and there was no way I could get there before 4:15 he jut told me to make sure I was in by then.
On my first day, I was in by 4:15 having flown out of school as fast as I could and he gave me shit about time again. And the way he barked orders was atrocious. I wasn't expecting, 'please sir, may I enquire whether you would ever be so kind to stock the shelves'? But was hoping for something better than, "stock the fucking shelves...clean the fucking floor...why isn't the fucking floor clean...take your fucking break...etc.' And there was no guidance at all on how things were done, you were expected to just know and if you asked a question you were responded to like a retard.
It was such a relief when working for other managers and realising they werent all obnoxious ****s.
That said, even when working with that obnoxious piece of shit, good things eventually happened as those of us unfortunate enough to work to him, built up a camaradery and had great funtaking the piss out of him behind his back. That made it bearable.
I'd try to give it a couple of more shifts before making your decision. It will be easier to stick with knowing that you can just pack it in when you want. As for them picking yur shifts for you, I'm afraid that is standard practice. You're new just in, and longer serving and permanent staff are going to get priority for the better shifts. However, if through your work you become valued and reliable, you'll eventually have better leverage when it comes to getting a better shift pattern.
Hope it works out for you.

Nah I've decided I've had enough of the shit job, will call them in a couple of hours, not worth the amount of money for the work I do (its literally 3 people at night refilling an entire store, so understaffed) and how much I'll have to give up of my day life to make a go at it.
All in all, fuck sainsburys. Will never go in this store again.

Erm it was with adventure 001 I believe. Flew from redhill amd it was about half hour long but it didn't feel rushed, had enough time to see everything if that makes sense. No idea on cost. It was a birthday present

Sexual Abuse at FCGS
After 45 years of living with the dark secret of being abused at school by a teacher , this year I got the courage to tell someone about it and I feel much better for having done so. If you had any problems like this with teachersat FCGS in the late 1960's or early 1970's feel free to contact me. Someone recently did just that and they said that they too experienced the same feeling of relief at sharing their long held secret and knowing that they were not the only one and it was not their fault. I also spoke to a good contact at the Child Abuse team at Barnet Police Station, they are very very understanding. My email is kevinmcnicholas at gmail.com.
