Stupid thing is the people who missed out in the ballot completely have ended up doing better as it was first come, first served.
They got up early on Friday and took their pick, people like me who gof a couple of things couldn't do that.
Crappy system.
I'm getting more optimistic of picking up some more tickets later on but yeah, they said they're still finalising the capacity but surely that should have long since been determined.

It would have been, if they had been able to organise a piss-up in a brewery. How hard is it to set up a web site for selling tickets fairly?
They could have done it via hmrc.gov.uk.
That would have been good.

I understand the ballot to an extent, if it had been first come first served from the start then the websites would have crashed horribly, it would have been chaos. But all these rounds of tickets have made it far too complicated.

I like the way Sebastian Coe is sidestepping the issue. An apology indicating they had some issues with the method and were sorry would go some way. Just pretending the issue does not exist shows a contempt for the public. But I forgot - he was a Tory MP so the idea of him giving a toss about the masses is laughable.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-13957587
A law as they are implying is an accident waiting to happen. All they really need to do is clarify the current rule. Just explain to those who are dealing with a burglar in the dark that after you have stabbed the bastard, when the police arrive just say "I thought he had a knife and was about to kill me" and since they can't prove you didn't think that, you are in the clear. Some idiots say 'I saw him with the telly heading for the door so I shot him 4 times' and think that is going to be OK with the law.
This new one is going to have a lot of people thinking they have carte blanche to knife them under any circumstances and they will then get a nasty shock when they are charged with murder. It will backfire on this government if they implement it. No irony that it is going to be proposed by the guy who wanted to halve the sentences - (another pointless law since the judges, knowing the punter server 50%, will simply increase the original sentence to compensate for it.)
Easy way to do away with your wife too.

Well (are you sitting comfortably), it's a long story.
I did quite a bit of chef-ing in my early career, and I used to like trying different things out. Tbf, curries from the shop are english interpretations of indian cooking anyway, so no harm in trying my own.
I decided what spices I like in my curry, and the heat I liked, the texture and what "base" it was.
So I blended a bunch of spices together, and then added things I thought would go well. I had an apple left in the fridge so I chucked that in. As I like sweet and hot, I just sorta figured it would add some extra sweetness.
Dunno. Tastes lush though. Nom.

Same sort of texture as sweet potato, but more sweet I guess. It's well nice. Needs cooking out obv. It's not raw or owt.

Interesting idea. Might try that. I sometimes add things like grapes and apricots and some extra cumin - seems to give it a north african feel. Apple would never have occured to me but I'm curious now!

I actually think the audio stuff is funnier somehow. I do have a 'best of' DVD though (the series themselves were somewhat patchy as most sketch shows).
Were you around when I mentioned I saw John Cleese's one man show recently? Got mixed reviews but I thought it was brilliant. Both interesting and funny, talking about his life and work.

Well the thing is that, as with most things, (like Thierry Henry) people just remember the good bits and forget the rest of the padding. The contrast is what makes it so good when you have the gems.
Also, for old farts like me, it brings back not just the show but being with mates watching the stuff. Some of the sketches, which now seem quite ordinary or less, were original at the time. You have to appreciate that when MPFC came out, most comedy was pretty dire. Just take a look at the late 1960s /early 1970s sit-coms like "Man about the house", "Terry and June", "Love thy neighbour", "Dick Emery" and such pathetic output - this was pretty much the normal level of tv output then. When MPFC hit the screen it was like the world of comedy had made a quantum leap. Since then, a lot of mainstream has made some of the originality appear pretty ordinary.
However, when I mentioned the 'Dennis Moore' episode, it is not good to see just the Dennis Moore bits as a concentrated package. The way Python would work is that in a given episode, a given joke sequence would come and go over the half hour and side references might be made. There are a lot of sketches that work in isolation but whole episodes is a better way to see it - the Spanish Inqisition is a classic example of this.
When MPFC was being broadcast for the first time every on tv, I lived in a pub in Dalston (The Crown and Castle at Kingsland Road / Dalston Lane corner actually) along with 12 other students. Unusually for that era, we were one of the few student places with a colour telly and a larger model at that. We had a big lounge and people would get their mates round. We'd have about 20-30 people crammed in to watch each episode and the atmosphere was brilliant. And you could bring your beer up from the bar. Great days - I really do miss living there. :upset:
