Hey LDG, how often do you run and how far?

Thinking of starting myself but I fear I'll just lose interest halfway and walk the rest.

It does take patience and stamina to build up the distance and speed. Been doing it for 13 years now, andbthe key thing, is that no matter how much I would rather skip it, I always make myself go out. In fact, I associate exercise with feeling good. Some I enjoy, some I don't.

Typically, I run 10k on a Sunday, 10k on a monday, top speed 5k on Tuesday, sprints Wednesday and 3k blast home on a Thursday.

Tuesday and Wednesday are gym sessions on treadmill, mixed with weights and rowing.

Going to cut down the running soon, as I also walk about 6 miles a day, and my 34 yr old legs are getting fucked. Am buying a bike to spread the load.

I can run forever on a treadmill but for some reason running outdoors has never appealed to me, I tried it a while ago and lost interest very quickly. I'll give it another go as I want to make the most of the weather, maybe a cheeky 5k.

Best form of exercise tbf, I always enjoy a swim session more than weights at the gym. As LDG says it works everything and it's also better for your body because of the lack resistance and strain put on your muscles and bones. I love it and I'm grateful to the 'rents for making me learn as a nipper.

I nearly accidently saw the new Royal last night – I walked to Paddington station to meet MrsL, forgetting that the hospital was next door. I saw the crowds and, hoping to see something interesting, joined them. Waited there for 10 minutes behind a million people, concluded that nothing was happening and even when it did I wouldn't see anything anyway so I left it. I don't think I missed them by much actually but all I missed was a load of cheering and flag waving, I wouldn't have got to hold him or anything (not that I'd have wanted to).

That story was about as interesting as Arsenal's transfer dealings. Sorry.

Letters

I remember when one of the attempts before was cancelled secretly thinking "phew!" as I thought it was going to be scary but actually no, going up and landing was all very smooth, you're travelling with the wind so it's not cold or breezy up there, you can't fall out (well, you could climb out but it would have to be deliberate). So no.
Quite hard work though as you have to help with the set-up and packing away. I guess that's all part of the experience though.

Slowest afternoon EVER :(
Only booked half a day off today so am 'WAH' this afternoon. Decided to take the opportunity, as there are too many distractions in the office, to plough through all the mandatory training I have to do.

Currently going through a 2 hour (although I'll probably do it quickly as it's mostly common sense) Child Protection course which is completely irrelevant to my job.
