You're an intelligent person, you know that there are more nuanced views than "Wenger is a ****" and you know my position is not "Mmm...Wengercock".
So what's with all the WUMming?
And I gave a more balanced view in the match reaction thread - no smileys save one at the start which was mocking how someone else may post aimed at me - and in the other thread you started by calling it self-pitying and...yeah, I couldn't be arsed reading the rest because if you're starting a post like that then it's probably a waste of my time.
My post wasn't self-pitying, it was merely lamenting the inability of most people on here to see any shades of grey on any debate. "Wenger is a **** and anyone else who doesn't think that must be sucking his cock". Is that the level of debate on here? Really? Sheesh...this place.

The tour is astounding and the staff there are wonderful.
The funniest moment I had was when a woman was showing us all the wands and talking about how the wands were designed partially to emphasise the owner's character traits.
She reached for one and said, "now Sirius Black for instance..." only to be interrupted by my then 9 year old son who exclaimed loudly with furrowed brow that,"SIRIUS BLACK WAS FRAMED"!!!!

Maybe. But I think generally Islam is a more harsh religion, I was looking up their version of the 10 commandments and their "thou shall not kill" has some caveat, something like "unless there is just cause". So there's more wiggle room for interpretation in their version.
I'm no scholar of Islam of course.
Herbert_Chapman's_Zombie
22-03-2016, 12:32 PM
All the abrahamic religions are equally self contradictory and barbaric in my eyes
Christianity is just the Old Testament with eternal damnation tacked on at the end, so there's no escape from totalitarian authority even when you snuff it.
And the Old Testament is plenty harsh, genocide and slavery are routinely seen as acceptable
The first few commandments are basically the start of a relationship with a jealous, in secure partner "thou shalt have no other gods but me".
The only thing that makes Islam worse is that it calls itself "the final truth", that any other faith before or after is unnecessary and undesirable.
Islam has been imposed as absolutism in middern eastern states and other than the ancient caliphates which were seats of great leaning and tolerance, it has been imposed as an unalterable dark age philosophy.
Niall_Quinn
22-03-2016, 01:19 PM
Islam is almost irrelevant outside its designated turf compared to the reach of the Christian/ Currency religion that has consumed and perverted the world. When you grow up in an environment of evil, when evil is the norm, then you won't be able to recognise evil unless you deliberately look. This is why the Cash Christians are the good guys/ Islam is evil, Brits and Yanks are good/ Nazis bad - on our TVs. On TVs elsewhere, it's the reverse. Organised religion is just another way to go if you want to control and abuse human beings.

It's no less believable than that people prepared to strap explosives to their waists and blow themselves indiscriminately murdering bystanders in the process would suddenly be upstanding citizens if only the world wasn't such an unfair place.
Whatever their supposed justification, at the end of the day it boils down to a natural inclination towards being violent, savage, atavistic whatever word you want to ascribe to it.
It's quite helpful that they have a religion to fall back on to tell themselves that it's permissible.
It's not desperation either.
People are angry and frustrated in this country about how their life oportunities are being curtailed by a greedy self serving minority, no one is going into the financial district or parliament turning themselves into a human bomb.

Yes. I have a theory the real problem is we don't like the way they kill. They kill civilians in what we consider to be an uncivilised fashion. We kill civilians in an "acceptable" manner, and even though we kill at a rate of 1000 to their 1, we don't mean it whereas they do. All our shit is accidental, therefore we are civilised. All their shit is deliberate, therefore they are uncivilised. In fact it's not a theory, you can hear any number of apologists on the news or political platforms saying exactly this.

We've got wooden flooring downstairs, carpets upstairs, and on the stairs.
They've done the stairs, landing and our bedroom today. They're doing the other two bedrooms tomorrow.
So this week is one big game of Furniture Tetris, moving everything from room to room <_<

It's not the best carpet ever - we're looking to move so we're only replacing it because the old one was so tatty - but it's loads softer and nicer than the old rubbish we had.

I know on one hand we can't say that a female teacher sleeping with a male pupil is ok when a male teacher sleeping with a female pupil isn't.
But no i don't think somehow this kid is psychologically scarred by this, even though it is totally unprofessional on the part of the teacher and she is rightly going to prison.

The BC pays for lots of foreigners to learn how to teach English to lots of other foreigners - clearly these foreigners need to be tested to ensure that they teach English as it should be teached. No, the British Council (the acronym BC is frowned upon in house) pay lots of English people to go and teach English to lots of foreigners, English teaching and English exams is a big part of our business.
And we have an exclusive contract with the UKVI (Visas and Immigration) as the supplier of the English exam which forms part of a Visa application for people wishing to study or work in an English speaking country.

To give away something about myself, I deal with police resourcing for Essex police and had to deal with allocating resources for a man hunt in the two murders.
As soon as the second person was killed I said it was the same person and people were dismissive as they believed that Nadim Almanea's death was an honour killing. A week later major investigations conceded that they were linking the two murders (although to be fair without consultation from me).
This guy would have I have no doubt killed again had he not been aprehended, this excuse of psychosis doesn't wash with me as someone who has volunteered with a mental health charity I have spent time with people suffering from psychosis and they with the greatest of respect would not be able to get it together to hunt someone murder them and escape detection for so long (even if their inclination was to do harm to others and more often than not they were at risk of harm to themselves).
