Maybe drop Gervinho for Benyanoon.
Beat Fulham then the first team can have a week off.

Wouldn't surprise me if we rested a few, including RVP. You could tell a lot of effort went into tonight. Rotate here then full strength vs Man City perhaps?
Fulham are draw specialists and have enough to frustrate us, but you wouldn't back against us in this form. 3-1 to the Arsenal.

Hmm...think we'll need an early goal here or it'll be a bit of a struggle. A couple of hard-fought wins in the week already could mean tiring legs in the second half. Resting Van Persie is not an option.
I'd play Benayoun instead of Arteta and Oxlade/Park instead of Gervinho. Both seem knackered.

Same team IMO, no point changing it if everyone is 100%, we have a rest coming up and VP didnt play in the 2 week internationals. Although we have plaenty of options in midfield and wings so Diaby, Rosicky and B'yoon will feature im sure.
3-0.
It's obviously not going to be an unchanged line-up. He named an unchanged line-up in midweek. So this would be the 3rd game in 7 days...has Wenger ever named an unchanged team for 3 games in a week?
Arshavin/Benayoun's likely to start. Possibly Diaby in midfield too.

Fulham players have scored 13 goals this season. Van Persie has also scored 13 goals this season.
Since we're a one-man team, it should be a very close game.
I don't want Arshavin to start but I think he will.

Only bet is Anzhi paying us a trillion rubles to have him.
Master Splinter

Makhachkala or PSG would definitely buy him.
Benyanoon would be a better option. Puts in an effort and doesn't look past it, despite being older. The wages would likely be a problem though.
If the Fat Fuck works hard to fight for his place in the team, then fair enough.
But Arshavin working hard :haha:.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Djourou, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Andre Santos, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Arshavin, Walcott, Van Persie (c).
Substitutes: Fabianski, Koscielny, Diaby, Frimpong, Benayoun, Gervinho, Chamakh.
Not starting the man who has been single-handedly responsible for our good defensive form...risky, but I guess he's dead and needs the rest. Arshavin and Santos on the left could be worrying. They might get sent off for eating their right winger.

that too and I get what you are saying, but I really think when we break or space opens up they need to be more direct sometimes and offer a real attacking alternative to always sending the ball wide

Another lethargic performance devoid of any creative spark whatsoever. The fact that Fulham made more passes than us 43 minutes in speaks volumes. How many times in the last 10 years has an away side had more completed passes than us, especially a non top-4 team? This just shows how inferior our midfield is compared to the recent past. How Wenger has allowed this to happen is astounding.

Joker - serious question: do you ever use your brain and 'think'?
If this fact is true, count the passes made by Schwartzer, Senderos and Hangeland....they are passing it around their area, wasting-time, waiting for Van Persie or Ramsey to close them down before launching it up field. They have little intention of going forward and are playing for a 0-0 or a smash and grab. It says nothing about our midfield.
What does say something is that our players aren't showing enough movement...which, I guess, was to be expected with Arshavin on the pitch. Van Persie looks tired as does most of the team...doesn't look good - I thought we needed that early goal but Ramsey blazed over.

It tells us that we're not as good in possession as we used to be, as the ball is being given away more, and also that the midfielders are not showing for the ball, therefore the defenders can't build from the back and are forced to hoof it forward. So yes, the statistic does tell us something about the midfield. Moreover, we can stop Fulham pointlessly passing the ball in midfield if we close them down more. Arteta's supposed to be doing the dirty work in this team, at least that's what his supporters have been telling us. Yet why is not trying harder to wrestle back possession? Creativity wise he's pointless, so if he's not doing the defensive stuff what's his role supposed to be?

The wins have been very welcome but they've papered over serious deficiencies in this team. The midfield is the main worry, but how often has Santos done something seriously idiotic in the last few weeks? Luckily, most of the time he's not been punished, but one of these days he's going to cost us.

Yeah but he is, he's been up and down and across the pitch non-stop. And the hassling and harrying and closing down the space has been fine, but you can't do much when the opposition wants to pass back. You don't cover the space behind them. Why is it now fashionable to single out Arteta? He's doing as well as anyone else. He's not Fabregas but he's effective in a different type of team to the one Cesc used to drive. Who do you want? Diaby? Denilson back?

You're blind or unable to separate performance from result. Fulham are not pointlessly passing the ball IN MIDFIELD...they're doing it in defence. The 'dirty work' is not a problem and we're able to wrestle posession - and Arteta has been good at doing that, even in this game - as soon as Fulham go forward. The problem is when we have the ball the runners aren't there. It's not a disastrous first half and had Ramsey tucked away that simple chance, we wouldn't even be talking about it.
I'm concerned we won't have the legs in the second half to push on like in previous games but your kneejerk reactions are ridiculous and childish. Think ffs.

Diaby and Gervinho on, Ramsey and Merts, Song to CB. Which means we are now totally reliant on Diaby putting in a performance or else this is a home loss. Bit of a coin toss from Wenger.

Must address the problem in midfield. Either Ramsey or Arteta (or both) must make way for better playmaker. Today, it got worst when Arshavin refused to stay wide, making it so easier for Fulham defenders. We are right now in a similar position as Manu, lack creativity in midfield but with two explosive wide forwards. Any injury to one of our front three, we'll be fuked. :coffee:

rest the whole first 11 for the League Cup game against City.
milla again with a similar outlook on this. we are not getting enough from Arteta and Ramsey imo. We already don't have enough goals coming from Gervinho & Theo, so we really need them to chip in, me thinks

Yeah. While naturally disappointed, I can't be angry about this, the team have been working hard for weeks. This has been reflected in Wenger having to play Arshavin when really, I bet he'd prefer not to.

Yes, Ramsey in particular looked jaded, Arteta the only one who could muster up fraction of his energy. Think we'll have a completely different midfield against city. Theo and RVP will not figure at all
