What obvious reasons?
Because images are simply streams of bytes. And a stream of bytes doesn't just have to contain image data. It can easily switch to any other form that might be interpreted in a different manner by the server. Many viruses and pam are encapsulated in image streams. The reason you have to post a URL, pain in the arse as it is because you can only refer to items already online, is because somebody else has already done the work in ensuring whatever you are pointing to is not a whole bag of shit waiting to happen.
