So Boris Johnson is blaming David Cameron for not having a Brexit plan and running away after the referendum, says he just wanted to "win an argument" to him it was just a game some university debate soc game, pick a side and win the argument.

The guy is an utterly contemptible cunt.

A while back read Tim Shipman’s All out War book on Brexit, and basically for Cameron if he hadn’t agreed to hold a referendum he would have been challenged to the Tory leadership. Basically he was never well liked as leader by his MPs, and they were especially pissed off with him for not pushing for a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty when he first became leader of the opposition.

So even before the Tory defections of Carswell and Reckless to UKIP, it had been decided that a referendum would be held for the purpose of party unity (though Osbourne, Hague and I think even Theresa May were against it).

Cameron’s problem is that he was so confident of winning that, after the independence referendum which actually was a lot closer than it probably should have been. He took none of the lessons from Better Together’s car crash of a campaign, and he failed to do what he could have done which is to set out with both Whitehall and the public, what kind of Brexit the government would go for (which gave Leave campaign a big boost because they could promise the earth and if it didn’t materialise you can then blame it on the government for poor negotiation)

Cameron and Johnson never liked each other, for Cameron…Johnson was a necessity (but not a welcome one) because of his popularity. Johnson referred to Cameron as a “girly swat” seemed to resent Cameron for both being hard working which he thinks is for chumps and getting a better degree result than him.
