It's a sorting algorithm that works by recursively splitting unsorted information into smaller and smaller segments, sorting those segments and then reassembling the data set. But this isn't the real question.

As any idiot knows the bubblesort algorithm has a cost of n squared where as Quicksort only has a cost of n log n.
