I’m reading Unruly by David Mitchell at the moment.
He does spend a fair amount of time noting how colon it was for people in the Middle Ages to drop down dead at a moment’s notice.
Just got to a bit where he’s talking about The Black Death when literally half the population died. Can you imagine?!
Obviously I meant “common”, not “colon”
And child mortality was through the roof too.
It must have meant people had a very different attitude to death.
