I can’t watch because I don’t have the sports channels.
I could listen but never liked listening to football on the radio, I always found it quite stressful as they make every slight half chance sound like it’s heading in. And it’s not that practical with 2 young kids running around.
I sort of followed it on here but my neighbour is ahead of that.
But what the fuck has it got to do with you how closely I follow Arsenal? I had a season ticket for over 20 years, now I follow from afar. I don’t feel any need to enter any “bestest westest Arsenal fan” competition.
Mostly because I’m not 8 years old.
It's not a competition, i agree, just surprised that someone who runs an Arsenal messageboard doesn't watch or listen to the NLD
I was driving and while i get your point about how their voices rise every time there's a shot, i have to admit i prefer it to watching the away NLD, that's the definition of stress
I was working, I was actually doing my best to avoid what was going on. But I can hear people at my local pub, so I know when West Ham have scored if I’m not watching or I know when Spurs are losing
I normally find some dodgy stream or watch in the pub (but then I don’t have kids), I haven’t paid for Sky Sports in a few years (and last few years I got it through Now TV).
I haven’t listened to Radio commentary since Alan Green retired
Not really, from what I heard it was a decent game in which we weathered some pressure and struck the killer blow, then sealed the win with good defending
Good football
Disagreeing with me by not watching it is impressive.
I'm basing it on two things - 1) the commentary made it clear there was a lot of action and some good play 2) people on here do tend to be fairly negative about the level of performance
As discussed, radio commentary is misleading - they always make things sound more exciting than things actually are.
Famously, I didn't see it either (Worst. Arsenal board mod. Ever!), I watched the highlights and from that it didn't look like a classic.
Looked like one of those games which was either going to peter out to a 0-0 or won by the odd goal. Our newfound ability from set pieces made it the latter.
I continue to believe I don't need to justify how closely I follow Arsenal, but in brief...my life has moved on since I started moderating this place. I've got married, had kids. My dad, who I used to go to games with, got too ill to keep going. And just generally I am very jaded by the modern game and the money sloshing around in it. I struggle to care which billionaire's plaything beats which other billionaire's plaything. The whole way the modern game is set up is designed to keep the gap between the haves and have nots as big as possible. It's why I'm more engaged with international tournaments. You can't buy a World Cup or Euros by snapping up all the best players. It's less predictable and therefore more enjoyable.
