It really depends where we are come May 1st. After City at the weekend you have five home games and only two away games barring a downturn in form, most if not all those games should be wins for you.
Chelsea (a), Arsenal (h), Brighton (a) and Palace (h) are not games I’d want to be concluding the season with
But the strong possibility arises that you could be far away from us by then
Our next three away games are Forest, United and Everton. Forest as you well know are a team that can cause problems and they have a goalkeeper that is practically impossible to score against (unless you’re Bournemouth). United well given their home form that should be a comfortable win but there’s too much history in that fixture for us to ever be confident and Everton is often a bear trap of a fixture for us. If we win all three of those games yeah you might have cause to be worried but that’s a huge if.
The other thing is as I said earlier is you guys are not losing games which for me makes a big difference. I think there’s a huge difference psychologically (especially away from home) between drawing and losing. A draw isn’t a bad result at Villa simply because almost no one wins there (we were lucky to).
The way you conceded that 98th minute goal to Everton must have been a bit of a blow, but then you could say the same about the Newcastle game and you went on to get a draw with ten men against Fulham and then score 14 goals in the next three games.
The other factor is that Liverpool have not won more than four league games in a row this season. We haven’t won more than three (we break that if we beat West Ham tomorrow). But ultimately I’ll be honest I don’t see things swinging towards us unless Salah picks up an injury…feels to me that he’s your get out of jail free card…he’s helped you to do enough when you haven’t necessarily been at your best
