Which is less a defence and more that most alternatives are terrible under a unitary government system.
I feel like with most new ideas to change things, people often don’t factor in unintended consequences. For example the US like the UK has an issue with pay day lending companies, whilst they obviously engage in predatory practices. They found that when they came down heavily on them, that people were going to criminal loan sharks instead. That would an example of dealing with a symptom rather than a root cause. Why are people needing to go to pay day lenders
And that’s before you get onto the absolutely fucking tragedy that’s been the liberal/left approach to drug addiction in San Francisco.
