I think it’s much worse when it’s children. Innocent, defenceless and dying senselessly it’s killing off everything they could have become and before they have the chance to experience all the things adults take for granted.
Obviously no one should die like that no matter what the age, but I remember something a friend told me his grandmother had told him when she found out she had terminal cancer “better me than someone with their whole life in front of them”
As for mass shootings, well…on one hand I’m in favour of strict gun laws. On the other hand, there are many countries that have gun laws that are as liberal as they are the US and they simply don’t have the level of individual gun homicides or mass shooting events. There’s something very peculiar about the US in that sense
