NOTE: The location of this post has been moved and the thread title (which was previously Wenger is Leaving) has been manipulated by a notorious pro-Wenger moderator. What was previously a message that contained no profanity and made a comment on a real life event has now been manipulated by a deliberately provocative title. An old and crude propaganda and censorship technique.
Everyone is entitled to a fair trial or in this case, probably fair to call it a hearing.
Should they feel defences have not been heard etc, there should be processes in place to appeal however, changing the rules during this process is not hte way to do it.
When rob roberts was found to have sexually harassed his staff, all MPs seemed to agree taht the rules should be changed so that in future, those found guilty of those kind of offences would be kicked out of parliament but Rees Mogg said the rules couldn’t be changed retroactively to apply in this case. Clearly that was bollocks as being proved here.
I dont know the ins & outs of this particular case but from what I’ve read, it doenst sound like there is much defence and the committee who recommended 30 day suspension are in the right. The way the government are behaving is appalling and the sooner Johnson fucks off the better.
However i do find it amusing seeing labour MPs complain about tories protecting their own given that senior MPs in labour refused to take action against Bercow when bullying & sexual harassment complaints were made because he helped them try to stop brexit. They complain people are playing politics now but they have short memories
It also shows how much of a mess labour are still in given their leadership cannot seemingly make any inroads to the Tory poll lead despite all these open goals.
Even Ed miliband was around 8 points clear at this point
Aye. All a bit depressing. I'm not rabidly anti Conservative or pro Labour - or the other way around.
But it's not good to have the current main opposition in such a mess that there is in effect no real opposition.
Paterson has now resigned
He had a massive majority so will be interesting to see if this story does any damage to that.
Although by elections aren’t always a clear sign of what would happen in a general election. Voters know they could vote labour here to send a message without them winning power. Several by elections over last few years got reveresed at the next general election
And so the game goes on, without missing a step. And it'll play on, tomorrow, and the next day and the next. Seemingly forever. And the players will approach each new round as if it's the first.
Für eure Sicherheit
I’m not sure what your point is there?
It is a fact that by elections in recent years have not always been retained at the next general election.
Zac goldsmith lost his seat to Lib Dems in 2016 yet won it back at 2017 election.
The Lib Dems won another by election in 2018 but tories won it back in 2019.
Labour retained some seats in by elections, notably Peterborough only to lose it at the next election.
By elections don’t always tell the full story but then again, no point really trying to debate with you
