Let's just face it the money is there and i am sure the board and shareholders have no problem with it being spent (as the likely dividends for them are going to come from us winning trophies) it's just Wenger is hand wringing over spending vast quantities because i don't think he has as much confidence in his abilities as he once did and knows he won't have the "i've spent fuck all" excuse to fall back on, the club are simply awful at transfer negotiations and last of all the clubs aren't selling unless the mega rich clubs are offering them obscene amounts for their players.

Players hold all the power now. Clubs have to sell if their hand is forced. Trouble with us is we are looking for a fair price in the 1990's stupid property market or the 1920's Wall Street set up. We're right, the prices are crazy, it's not sustainable, it will absolutely, definitely, without a shadow of doubt collapse. But try telling that to property buyers in the 90s, try telling it to stock buyers in the 20s. It would be okay (well not really) if we were crusaders based on principle. But we aren't. It's a happy situation for the board. Don't spend and get spanked on the pitch - commercial inertia still keeps the profits rolling in. Do spend, more fans turn up, more shirts are sold, commercial wins out again. The sport doesn't really come into it and that's the problem. Our board doesn't need to buy respectability like a dirty Russian criminal or a dirt Arab thief (I'm calling it like it is so don't even start), our lot are "respectable" so they can get on and make their money by a variety of methods. They are already in the club (in more ways than one).

Football has been invaded and the fans keep looking in the wrong places for the reasons why it has all turned to shit.

Nah, it's gone beyond shear opportunity cost analysis of spending or not spending. We don't even have quantity let alone quality - the shear nakedness of negligence would be enough to frighten anyone into doing something, although a last minute trolley dash for bargain basement crap seems more likely.

It depends how long the player has on his contract, someone like Suarez who i believe is contracted to Anfield until 2016...Liverpool quite correctly say they don't have to sell him. Unless Suarez refuses to play for Liverpool which a) in going over to Australia he doesn't appear to show a willingness to do and b) Would probably make a club less eager to want to sign him and would be a risky gamble that could jeprodise his future.
Higuain I think the club are moving the goalposts because they are hedging their bets, they don't want to sell him unless they are guaranteed they can replace him, and two of their targets Cavani and Jovetic have already gone to other clubs....and it's fair to say they don't have the same valuation of Suarez that even we do.

Your squad analysis certainly exposed the asset stripping in stark black and white. There's no way anyone with an interest in football allows that to happen. Okay so people with money rule the world, nothing new there. I just hate the way they position themselves as men of principle when they are in fact nothing more than grubby thieves. The chavs and city are the best thing that ever happened for these bastards, it gives them their wafer thin excuse.

Aren't new contracts just a way for the club to get a better deal when the player decides to leave anyway. His kickback for jumping ship?

Prepare to be sad. One transfer max. If they were serious about strengthening the squad it would have all been done by the Asian tour.
