New movie about the Blitz coming out of course the main character is a mulatto child. The blackwashing of history continues, anyone else think it's getting a bit ridiculous? (I guess black Anne Boleyn was the real shark jumping moment)

Independence Day (1996).

Had a rare few hours to myself this afternoon so I decided to watch this, possibly for the first time since the cinema, certainly the first time for a long time.
I’d honestly forgotten what utter shit it is

Amazon Prime is showing all the Bond films. Watched Octopussy the other day, I don’t think it’s possible to rate that film too highly, it’s utterly absurd….a complete pastiche of itself

Some cracking lines, including when Roger Moore gives half of his 200k Rupee winnings from Backgammon, to one of the agents working with him in India and says

“That should keep you in curry for a few weeks”

Also tells a snake crawling over his leg when he’s hiding in the jungle to “Hiss off!”

The Holdovers

Ostensibly another one of those two polar opposite characters being forced into a situation together and learning more about each other and growing to like/respect each other. So not exactly original as such, but Paul Giamatti and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (playing a grieving mother) are very good and it’s quite funny at times. One of these films that’s bittersweet at times with the emphasis on bitter, as the three main characters have a degree of bitterness.

Parasite

This seemed to be the first of many Korean works of fiction that is about the disparity of wealth in that country (along with Squid games and a similar series called the 8 show)

It’s a perfectly watchable film, but not quite sure what makes it an Oscar winner (but then there’s quite a few Oscar winning films which really aren’t that special)

Mary 6/10

It was alright. I like Ancient Rome, this was a fictional tale of a little harlot who concocted some BS story to excuse her promiscuity and her simp fiance/husband.

Her lies brought heaps of trouble as the King the Romans had placed to rule that part of the empire felt threatened and killed a bunch of people to keep power.
