There’s a very strong likelihood that we are past the point of no return with this anyway. And frankly I’m sick of incessant activism everywhere, people needing to get on their soap box to say x or y is a disgrace. The reason I like this site is because it’s an escape from that, a little bit of care free nihilism is very liberating.

But go ahead and glue yourself to a petrol pump if it makes you feel better

I'm annoyed about the activism too. It targets the wrong people. It just pisses people off, it's leaders who need to take action (although I agree it's too late, I've been to India and China and you look at the pollution and smog there and think "oh what's the bloody point!").

While we are here, I'm also annoyed when there's some global conference of leaders to talk about climate change you always get people saying "BuT ThEy ToOk PrIvAtE JeTs!!11!". Oh so what? what do you expect them to do, walk? Get EasyJet? So what? OK, I guess it sets a bit of a bad example. But if they agree measures which cut the emissions of a whole country by x% then who cares about a few private flights?

Think it’s time to fill up the paddling pool. Sit myself down in there all evening.

Bit worried about tonight. We're in a loft conversion which gets boiling in the day but cools down quite nicely at night. The boy's room is on the side of the house where the sun is in the evening and it's already boiling in there.
Wondering if there's somewhere else he could sleep
Do you have windows on either side of the room? If you open them, it creates a through draft which cools it down massively.

My room in my parents' house is a loft conversion which is like a sauna in summer with the windows closed, but if you open them, it's nice and pleasant in about 5 minutes.
You used to be everything to me
    Now you're tired of fighting

I do have an issue with this.

Of course world leaders aren’t going to travel by easyJet and need their own government planes in case of emergency etc, i am ok with that. However, at the last COP26 in Glasgow, the day before all the leaders were in rome. So they all fly there, have a meeting and then all fly to Scotland for another meeting. That’s where it doesnt look good especially when they are telling us business travel etc should be zoom calls.

    There's certainly an optics thing.
But the comparison I made in a discussion about this with a mate (and I may have posted on here before, so apologies if so), it's like dropping some litter on their way to spend all day litter picking. I mean, they shouldn't have done the former but the latter does far more good than the single piece of litter.
If you agree at a summit to reduce your carbon emissions by x% then even one country more than makes up for some private flights getting there.
I mean, I think we are buggered anyway but if they do make promises (and fulfil them) which reduce climate change then I don't give a monkeys how they got to the summit where they did it.
