Oh I don't know. Tbh I hadn't heard about this story till you mentioned it. I looked into a bit and I'm still not sure what I think.
The fact that the royals own a lot of land isn't exactly news. Landowners using their assets to generate income is pretty standard.
I did read they're exempt from certain taxes which seems wrong to me.

My overall thoughts on the royals is they are clearly an anachronism in a modern society. But they are part of us and one which I am quite fond of.
I certainly don't believe getting rid of them would actually fix anything. The issues in this country are caused by our elected leaders, not our unelected figureheads.

Better to be a free thinker and get it wrong every time than to be a mind enslaved, especially willingly. Free thought doesn't mean you have to be right, it just means you are capable of thinking beyond the bounds of conclusions set before you as unimpeachable.
