Either every government has simultaneously lurched towards authoritarian or they’re all dealing with a situation. Dealing with it the wrong way, maybe, but it’s ridiculous to think that the restrictions are permanent. They have changed as the data has.
Or the growth of international bodies and the diminishment of national sovereignty (which is a swear word to half the population) has centralised the decision making process while hiding behind the circus tent where all the democracy and other giggles is being performed.
It's too late now for people who don't know what's happening to ever know what's happening. That line was passed a while back and now we have literally progressed to UFOs and space aliens.
