This is an absolute mystery, why would somenone in his position do this. He was doing well in a job he loved, had a wife and 2 kids and from all accounts he seemed in good spirits the very night he was supposed to have done it. People say it could have been down to depression but he was showing no signs of it. Also heard the scummy papers were going to print something about his private life. It takes a lot for someone in his position with kids to do something like this.

I think MOTD2 got the tone spot-on yesterday - Murray was excellent - but Lawrenson came across as almost flippant about it (and even then couldn't resist trying to crack a couple of dumb jokes). To be fair I don't think that was the intention, he just isn't cut out for this sort of thing - I recall similar behaviour from him when George Best was ill/dying.
