FWIW, it is exactly 50 years ago to the day that I went to my first ever Arsenal match. We beat Newcastle 4-0 at Highbury on Wednesday 6th Oct 1971. On the Saturday, I went again and we beat them 4-2 to knock them out of the League Cup.

They were wearing white shirts and black shorts. It finished 0-0, at one point we hit the side netting and we thought it was a goal.

I remember hating it, I was quite young and I think I was a bit scared of the crowd and noise!
I didn't really get properly in to football till Anfield '89. That propelled me from armchair fan to someone who went to games, we went to games here and there in 89-90 and then had season tickets from 1990-91 (Champions! Champions!) up until I got married (whoop-ah!). Although by then dad was getting a bit ill and not really able to go which was a factor - it was our thing.
