Arsenal v Wolves. Sat 17th August. 15:00
Here we go again.
Can the first game of the season be a must win? Given what we’re up against with City it probably is. Plus with trips to Villa, Spurs and City in the first 5 games you have to think that this may not be a pretty start to the season if we’re not at the races.
I’m guessing the team that started against Lyon will be the 11 for this.
Come on you Gunners!

Most likely, given California (that’s what predictive spelling is calling him) comes from a slower league he might need time to come up to speed and I don’t expect any signings between now and 15:00 Saturday (as I’ve repeatedly stated we are worried about FSR, one reason why we are trying to sign Merino rather than Zubimendi) and we need to sell Eddie and Nelson and probably Zinchenko if we hope to make any signings full stop before the transfer window shuts

If Arteta's plan is Zin in defence and Jesus at 9 then we can all relax safely in the knowledge that we won't be in a 'title race' this year

Overall Premier League Record against Wolves
Wins 14
Draws 3
Defeats 3
Goals for: 40
Goals against: 14
At Home
Wins 6
Draws 3
Defeats 1
Goals for: 19
Goals against: 7
We’ve won the last six games against them, scoring 14 and conceding twice.
They’ve lost their last three opening games of the season, 1-0 at United, 2-1 at Leeds and 1-0 at Leicester
They also won only two of their final 12 league games last season, drawing two and losing eight. It’s fair to say they don’t come into the season on sparkling form.

I would say there is at least 32 must win games in the PL season now.
Some of the other 6 games may become must wins as well.

It’s about taking what we did last season and identifying where we can build on it
We broke a record last season in the amount of games we won in a 38 game season
Well we still have never won more than 15 from 19 at home or 14 from 19 away from home
Arguably its home form that needs to be identified. I don’t think we can afford to be losing two home games, it’s been over ten years since we’ve lost fewer than two games at home in a league season. And it’s been 16-17 years since we were unbeaten at home. City went unbeaten at home last season, Liverpool went three straight seasons unbeaten at home under Klopp (unbeaten at home from 2017 until 2021).
Also look to reach a minimum of 16 wins at home.
